Sheldon or Shelton?
[edit]The one source cited in the article, the FJC history site, lists the middle name as "Sheldon." It appears that there is no basis to change the name to "Shelton," as there are no other sources cited. The editor who changed the name also changed the title of the FJC cite in the article, incorrectly. Based on their edit summary, WP:OR may be involved. The editor may well be correct in asserting that the FJC got the name wrong, but it would help to have other, reliable sources cited for the correct name. See, for example, Manifest Destinies: The Making of the Mexican American Race, Laura E. Gómez, NYU Press, 2008, Pp. 141-142, ISBN 9780814732052; [1] - which has the name as "Sheldon." - There are plenty of other sources saying it's Shelton, including contemporary newspapers, and more recently, the University of Texas, where a professorship is named after him. Nthep (talk) 09:15, 26 June 2024 (UTC)
