British?

[edit]

I have reverted changes made to the article suggesting it is British, but it seems to be re-added several times, I can find nothing to say it has any British input (other than IMDB, which is unreliable). Rather than enter an edit war, I thought I would bring this up here and get others opinions, perhaps someone else could find a source saying it has British input! For this horrifying reboot? No unfortunately, All Engines Go is americanized and according to the SiF Blog which is a at http://thesifblog.blogspot.com/2020/11/thomas-2021-what-to-expect.html Mr Bryer said Sodor was originally off the coast of England is NOT important for the Reboot and he also said Sir Topham Hatt will nor have an English Accent nor will the Engines. As Wilbert Awdry said in 1974 speaking of the original attempt at a 2D animated Thomas, "Once the Americans get hold of it, the whole series would be vulgarized and ruined." years later in 2021, it happen. Thanks Christopher Keenan and Rick Suvalle for ruining it. All Engines Go will flop I have no doubt, even way bigger failure then the Big World Big Adventures Era. not merged

This article does not follow the WP:NTV guidelines, considering that it is an upcoming show with not much information available. It should be merged into the article of the original show since this is a spin-off. BaldiBasicsFan (talk) 21:57, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose, I get your side of the story but at the same time it's still a new series and not a continuation of the OG show. For Example: TTG is a reboot of Teen Titans. Even tho both shows share the same cast of characters it still isn't considered the same as the original show which is why TTG has a separate article. It would be weird to have a section of the Teen Titans article dedicated to TTG. Another example is Rugrats 2021 and Classic Rugrats or Animanics 2020 and Animaniacs 1993. Despite both examples reboots being mostly similar, there not considered an continuation of the show but instead as a reboot which is why there separate articles. Bottom line: Keep them separate because despite both shows sharing certain things, there in fact separate entities LittleMAHER1 (talk) 05:17, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Which one for the Reception?

[edit]

As a Thomas Fan I am, i’ve seen information and fans reactions and I researched. The SiF article came out With new information about the changes of the show after Mattel’s announcement and then a year later the trailer came out and fans compared all engines go to other reboot it shows, and many parents and their children do not like it either. And of course, two well known people Britt Allcroft the TV producer and Veronica Chambers the daughter of Wilbert Awdry did not enjoy it either.

So which one of these to use for Reception on All Engines Go Wikipedia Page? A or B or C or use one the two and changed some of them and combine it into one for the Reception.

A

On November 23, 2020, after the announcement of the series, Ryan Hagan, an admin of Sodor Island Forums & Fansite, had a conference call receiving huge changes of the new show and shared the whole information on the SiF Blog, and fans of the original series (Seasons 1 through 24) were horrified and outraged after reading the whole blog.[1] Some even blamed Christopher Keenan and Rick Suvalle for the changes, a few blamed director Campbell Bryer for saying he would try to be "faithful" to the original Thomas & Friends series, but was eventually a hypocritical liar by saying the Island of Sodor being on the coast of England is "not important at all".

Upon release of the trailer on January 27th, the series trailer received severe backlash from fans; primary criticisms were aimed at its new character designs and lack of realism, some unfavorably compared it to shows such as Teen Titans Go!, VeggieTales in the City, and My Little Pony: Pony Life. Many parents complained that even their children did not enjoy it at all.[2] Veronica Chambers (daughter of the Wilbert Awdry) did not like the new series in the trailer.[3] The original TV producer Britt Allcroft who also heard about it sympathized with the upset fans and parents in a Facebook post.[4]

None of them, because they all make use of unreliable or unnotable sources (that tweet has been removed in the past, blogspot isn't reliable). Honestly I think the current reception section is fine as it is. I've just noticed the reception section was removed. I can't say I disagree with the decision, it's probably WP:UNDUE. — Czello 07:39, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with CZello that none of these are appropriate. None of them sourced to reliable sources: fansites, Facebook posts and tweets are not valid sources. It's nothing but gossip and rumor, which is completely inappropriate for a serious encyclopedia. Laplorfill (talk) 14:20, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The whole idea about disregarding a piece of information just because it's on social media is bullshit. If that same thing was said but plublished by a news company, the Wiki would happily cite it whether or not it's "gossip". The fact that you see a "serious encyclopedia" to be fit for a dumb kids show baffles me, but it's just my opinion, so do whatever you want.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.64.254.239 (talkcontribs)

I found a new source from the Daily Mail about how parents and kids hate the show with a burning passion. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9975903/Thomas-Tank-Engines-new-cartoon-look-menacing-children-CRY.html?ito=social-twitter_mailonline 24.44.76.88 (talk)

I don't believe that can be used- see WP:DAILYMAIL. Magitroopa (talk) 22:28, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian airdates

[edit]

This is a Canadian co-production, so why not have Canadian airdates as well? This is especially since it aired to today in Canada, and it isn't violating MOS:TVINTL. BaldiBasicsFan (talk) 22:43, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What happend to the Reception?

[edit]

Where is the Reception on All Engines Go Page? SECREngineNo592 (talk) 012:54, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We don't use gossip sites as sources (like DailyMail/The Mirror). See the above section for more info. Magitroopa (talk) 09:07, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Britt created this?

[edit]

How is this true even if it is listed in the opening credits? Britt had nothing to do with this reboot. She has denounced it on her official Facebook. She even said she can't do anything about it! How are you still listing her as the creator. If anything, can't you at least list what she said about it on this page? It's a huge problem listing her as the creator when she has nothing to do with it!@UpMentalSyndrome UpMentalSyndrome (talk) 18:49, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Continuing to edit war despite opening a discussion here is not helping whatsoever. Actually discuss the issue rather than continuing to edit war. As I've told you multiple times, it is an unverified social media account- it is considered WP:NOTRS. An actual reliable source is needed. Magitroopa (talk) 18:54, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Why are you treating edit warring as if I murdered somebody? I am only going by what is really right. Edit warring is the least of what I am concerned about.UpMentalSyndrome (talk) 18:55, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The episode/show itself (including opening/closing credits) would be a WP:PRIMARY source. Straight from the credits in each episode is, "Created by Britt Allcroft".
As I've already said multiple times, the supposed Facebook account is unverified, meaning it is not reliable to use. On the contrary, the Thomas & Friends Facebook page would be reliable to use, as it is verified (see the blue checkmark).
Looking further for any sources, all I've found including the official Netflix and Apple TV list Allcroft as the creator, so there really isn't much to be done as the sources all say the same thing.
If her supposed Facebook account were verified, I would say the best option then would be to add a note stating along the lines of, "...she's said she's not involved with the series...", but we can't use an unverified account as a source, so that's a no-go. However, we're not just going to around changing things just because one social media account or article says the opposite thing.
Wikipedia is based around verifiability, so going against that and edit warring shouldn't be done. I would suggest you take a look through WP:V, WP:RS, WP:NOTRS, and related topics to better understand yourself with what can/cannot be used for sourcing in the future. Thank you. Magitroopa (talk) 19:14, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

How is it unreliable if it is coming from the actual person themselves? Like if the person didn't make it (which she didn't), they didn't creat this abomination of show. Even if the credits say that she did. NintendoTTTEfan2005 (talk) 07:21, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

As pointed out above, multiple sources (including the credits themselves) list Britt as the creator. The Facebook account is not verified, meaning it is not a reliable source to use. That's how this stuff works... Magitroopa (talk) 08:04, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well then, can you give a reliable source on that claim? NintendoTTTEfan2005 (talk) 15:38, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, so, in the recent episodes released in Canada, Britt Allcroft's credit has been removed from the opening. Should she still be referred to as the creator of the show on the page then? TheThomasEnthusiast (talk) 02:55, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect writer listed

[edit]

Episode 51 ("Skiff Sails Sodor") incorrectly lists Jaya Ramdath as the writer in the article. According to the episode's opening credits, however, it was written by Daniel Share-Strom. I'd fix it myself but I made this account just to say this and the article is partially protected. MrPickles12 (talk) 01:45, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've just checked the credits for "A New View for Thomas", "Skiff Sails Sodor", and "Song of Sodor", as per the credits in the full episodes listed on the Cartoon Network website. Should be good now! Magitroopa (talk) 01:58, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Recent press releases/news articles say "Season 26"

[edit]

The article currently says "It was originally believed to be a continuation of the original series (with the two seasons labeled as series 25 and 26), but Mattel Television later confirmed it to be a separate series." However, Mattel's press release from this week (two days ago) still labels the show as a continuation, talking about "the Season 26 premiere" (which would be "Season 2" if it was a separate series). https://corporate.mattel.com/news/mattel-introduces-bruno-the-brake-car-first-autistic-character-in-iconic-thomas-and-friends-franchise is the link. News articles picking up the story do the same thing: https://collider.com/thomas-and-friends-season-26-autistic-train/ "‘Thomas & Friends’ Season 26 Casts Autistic Actor as New Locomotive." Instead of calling it a separate series, should the wording be changed? It's still being produced as the 25th and 26th seasons of Thomas & Friends. Squittens (talk) 19:04, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is quite a weird one, that even I'm not entirely sure how to handle it. The Collider article makes it a bit clearer, but I'm not exactly how it should translate to Wikipedia... I'm thinking this might be something to ask/discuss over at WT:TV.
Essentially, it is a new series and is not a new series at the same time. From the second paragraph of that article: "Since then, the series aired 584 episodes through 24 seasons, until it changed its animation format to classic 2D last year. The first season of Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go premiered last September, with 52 more episodes added to the impressive total."
The third paragraph makes it much more clear this is a series (Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go)/franchise (Thomas & Friends) thing: "Next week, Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go will be back for its second season, and the 26th season of the whole franchise."
Still not fully sure how exactly this should be handled, but I think more discussions can help figure this out. Magitroopa (talk) 19:13, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It has been confirmed by Rick Suvalle that Seasons 25 and 26's (which were greenlit together) working titles were 25 and 26. He stated "it was always meant to be a separate series" and that Seasons 25 and 26 were just placeholder titles until they decided on a new series name.
Press releases are just calling it Season 26 because:
A. it was greenlit as S26
B. the production codes are S26 (so far the only ones confirmed are Percy Disappears [2601b], Tri-and-a-Half-a-Lon [2602b], and Shake, Rattle, and Bruno [2605a], but since these episodes are paired with the following: Fast Friends [2601a], Ashima's Amazing Arrival [2602a], and Blackout! [2605b], those would be the production codes.
Other episodes found here:
Key:
  • Canadian listings are paired
  • US listings are not
  • Ashima's Amazing Arrival and Tri-and-a-Half-a Lon were not moved to the Season 2 page for some reason, but will air in Canada on September 25.

More confusion - a week ago, the upcoming new seasons were announced as "Seasons 27 and 28" here: https://toybook.com/mattels-thomas-friends-all-engines-go-renewed-for-two-more-seasons-on-the-rails/ and https://www.anbmedia.com/news/2022/10/mattel-announces-global-renewal-of-hit-animated-series-thomas-friends-all-engines-go/ I know that Rick Suvalle (writer who was brought on to refresh the franchise) said he considered it a separate thing in an unofficial interview, but Mattel seems to officially call it a continuation, with the AEG subtitle acting just like the "Thomas & Friends: Big World! Big Adventures!" subtitle that seasons 22–24 used. Squittens (talk) 16:22, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: not moved as proposed. There is greater interest in moving the disambiguation page to the base title, but there's no consensus in this RM to do so; no prejudice against proposing that in a separate RM at any time.
