Resettlement and Refugees
[edit]This is a good article. Kudos to the team who has written it! But the intro makes clear that the article is about third country resettlement of refugees. The definition of refugee is: [person] owing to well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality and is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country. This definition does not fit the populations of Jews that was moved from the Arab world to Israel. See more in the article Jewish exodus from Arab and Muslim countries. The main reason is that when they were airlifted they were not "outside the country of his nationality" and can therefore not have been refugees at that instant in time. Therefore the operations aren't examples of "controlled refugee movements"
Therefore I suggest this section be axed:
- Examples of controlled refugee movements that may be considered similar to resettlement (but not facilitated by the UNHCR) were Operation Moses, Operation On Wings of Eagles, Operation Ezra and Nehemiah, Operation Joshua, Operation Yachin and Operation Solomon, in which Jewish refugees were resettled from Sudan, Marocco, Iraq, Yemen and Ethiopia to Israel.
If it isn't axed, then at least sources need to be added. Because it is not clear who considers these operations similar to third country resettlement. ImTheIP (talk) 20:46, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
- I added that part and I am happy with your suggestion, can see your point and will delete it straight away. Thanks Michtrich (talk) 21:06, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
- Wow that was quick! Thanks. ImTheIP (talk) 02:08, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
To add to the introduction(?):
[edit]Third country resettlement is a really complicated process that includes multiple steps. These steps involve multiple interviews and even medical checks. Less than 1 percent of all refugees are resettled in third countries, with the Unites States resettling half of them.[1] There is usually around 60,000 to 90,000 refugees resettled each fiscal year. This year the number is set at 45,000 which is the lowest it has been in history after the brief period after 9/11[2] Elleg13 (talk) 20:52, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

[edit]Resettlement to a third county BResettlement to a third county officer in change Resettlement section United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee Balukhali camp-8W Block-A-42 (E) in Bangladesh Refugee camp Dear sir /Madam With due respect. I'm Mohammod Hadip father Laydo mia, Mother Minara, UNHCR File: KAS-00078513. a mandat refugee from Burma. Would like to draw your kind and sympathetic attention on my most vulnerable situation which completed me to seek a change for resettlement to a third county on the following grounds. 1. For the first most, I would like to describe you that the ruling Government authorities of Burma have forcibly exterminated me from my ancestral homeland. installing inhuman torture suppression and brutal treatment in relating to my race, nationality and cultural orientation. I'm also a victim of slow burning genocide under the successive military government authorities and the fellow buddhist Rakhine people of the state. 2. In order to avoid from impending danger, I took Refugee in Bangladesh in years 2017 . Since then, I have been approaching to the office of the UNHCR for registration and protection. After long suffering. I was registered with the UNHCR but never exempted from continues harassment. arrests, detention, deportation and various kinds of prosecution under the country legal framework as the country is neither party to UN. Refugee instruments nor have legislation for the protection of Refugee and asylum seeker.
3. Mentioned may be made here that I could not return to my country of origin (Burma). While facing constant threat in this country, even I was assessed. detained and reported to where the smugglers routinely and inhumanly supposed me there before re-entry to Bangladesh Refugee camp. 4. Currently, I'm in debts of house rents, borrowed huge amount for my survival, which I'm suffering from gastritis and some undiagnosed disease to which I'm unable to get medication.
5. Now, I'm also feeling fear of serious intimidation exploitation impunity, intimidation and prosecutions in my illegal and marginalized state in the country. So I'm very much in need of your sympathetic assistance to save my life through my resettlement to a third county.
Under the above circumstances, I pray and hope that you would be kind enough to consider my application for resettlement to a third county on humanitarian ground to which will remain ever grateful to you.
I look forward to hearing from your good office. Thanks you and best regards.
