I will take this one; comments to follow over the weekend. Zawed (talk) 09:35, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Lead

  • "In April 1915..." You might as well specify the actual date.  Done

Beachhead

  • "The Turkish first attack on Anzac cove in April...": I think these should be described as counterattacks. Perhaps: The Turkish counterattacks on Anzac Cove..." Also the wikilink "first attack on Anzac cove" (btw cove should be title case) goes to the "Stalemate" section of the Landing at Anzac Cove page but I think it should go to the "Consolidating the landing" section. This is where the counterattacks of April are discussed. Done
  • wikilink the 72nd and 77th regiments even if no articles for the exist yet? Actually, I see you mention several more regiments later on; that will be a lot of redlinks if they don't have articles. I will defer to your preference as primary author. Agree and there is virtually nothing known about these regiments. But I may come back to them. Even if just a stub.

Turkish forces

  • "The First World War Ottoman Turkish Army...": suggest rephrasing to "The Ottoman Turkish Army of the First World War..."  Done
  • "...while the other two had taken part in some of the previous fighting.": suggest rephrasing to "...while the other two had taken part in some of the previous counterattacks at Anzac Cove."  Done

ANZAC forces

  • Is it "stand to" or "stand-to"? I suspect it is the latter...stand-to  Done

No. 3 Section

  • "At dawn the Turks' machine-guns and rifles opened fire at the Australians. This lasted until 04:20..." Do we have a time for dawn? Changed wording Around 03:30 the Turks....lasted for about an hour  Done

Daylight

  • I notice that the presentation of The Nek is inconsistent in the article; sometimes quote marks are used "The Nek".  Done
  • "but arranged it so that no one squadron would be wiped out.": Suggest rephrasing to "but arranged the attack so that no single squadron would be wiped out."  Done
  • "to return the New Zealand Infantry Brigade to ANZAC that night.": Suggest rephrasing to "to recall the New Zealand Infantry Brigade from Cape Helles to ANZAC Cove that night." Or a variation thereof; some readers might have forgotten where the brigade was.  Done

Aftermath

  • "Talking about it,": suggest rephrasing to "Talking about the failed attack,"  Done

References

  • Note 19: Is it Nicolle or Nicholle? Nicolle  Done
  • Note 52: No corresponding entry in the bibliography for Wilkie. added  Done

Other stuff

  • No duplicate links
  • Appropriate licencing tags on all images
  • No dab links
  • Checklinks tool doesn't identify any issues.

Nice work Jim, only minor nitpicks as noted above. Cheers. Zawed (talk) 05:56, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
