[edit]Somewhat unusually, their official name was actually Third Lanark Athletic Club, which means this page needs moving. Which I shall do soon... Jellyman 22:22, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
And thank the stars you didn't! You may as well call Celtic F.C. Celtic Athletic by the same reasoning, as their name is "The Celtic Football And Athletic Club". It was commonplace in the early years of soccer for clubs to be involved in a number of sports - Heart of Midlothian for example were involved with cricket, Vale of Leven with Shinty, Rangers with rowing, and so on.Mark Boyle (talk) 20:20, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- Err... actually, I did! Although I see now that what I wrote here didn't spell out precisely what I was going to do. To clarify, then: it was never my intention to move the page to "Third Lanark Athletic" or somesuch, merely to change the suffix from F.C. to the correct A.C. That is the name which the club used right up until its demise, and which is still in use by the revived amateur club (see their website [1]). Nothing to do with other sports played in the olden days - as far as I am aware they were founded purely as a football team - but just the correct name of the club. By the way, Celtic F.C. points out that the "Athletic" part of their name was dropped in 1994, so no possible debate over that one! Jellyman (talk) 00:25, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Aberdeen?
[edit]Why do the categories at the bottom of the page say "Sport in Aberdeen"? Thirds were about as far from Aberdeen as one can get - surely the clue is in the name? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.74.97.221 (talk) 01:57, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Club rules
[edit]Any objections to me removing the original 1872 club rules, which are reproduced in full in the article? They don't contain anything particularly unusual or noteworthy... Jellyman (talk) 12:38, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
- In the absence of any comment, I have now gone ahead and removed them. Jellyman (talk) 14:36, 13 April 2016 (UTC)
