Referring about Virenque's team expulsion in 1998, the following sentences are imho too polemic to be included in the main text. 82.224.88.52 12:01, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The expulsion came after Roussel's lawyer Thibault de Montbrial issued a statement admitting the policy to supply drugs.

"The objective was to improve performances under strict medical control in order to avoid the unauthorised personal supply to cyclists causing grave attacks on their health which could have been the case in the past," he said.

Lille magistrates had said the riders could continue in the tour and be questioned afterwards, but the Tour organisers moved swiftly to separate the scandal from the race.

Armstrong affair

[edit]

Hello, can you give the link to the l'Equipe article mentioning Olano, Moreau, and Armstrong in the latest doping affair, please? I looked around http://www.lequipe.fr/Cyclisme/index.html just now, but can't find it. Thanks. Julius.kusuma 18:17, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Here it is (titled Pourquoi se focaliser sur le seul Armstrong). 82.224.88.52 19:19, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the information. I was actually hoping to read the reference to Moreau and Olano, because that's the part that hasn't been mentioned in English news sources. Merci bien! Julius.kusuma 21:03, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

all the info is on http://www.cyclingnews.com/results/1999/tour99/prologue.html

from where I extract the following

 1. Lance Armstrong (USA) US Postal 8.02
 2. Alex Zülle (Swi) Banesto 0.07
 3. Abraham Olano (Spa) ONCE-Deutsche Bank 0.11
 4. Christophe Moreau (Fra) Festina 0.15
 5. Chris Boardman (GBR) Crédit Agricole 0.16
 6. Rik Verbrugghe (Bel) Lotto-Mobistar 0.18

stating that my main source pretends Zulle Olano and Moreau were all positive but Boardman is an alternate possibility. 82.224.88.52 15:53, 26 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the explanation. The article does not mention Zulle and Olano directly; it says that the UCI should investigate them. Even with the press release that three other riders' samples from the Prologue were supposedly positive, it seems to me that there is no statement that Zulle and Olano were those riders. Is this correct? Thanks. Julius.kusuma 16:56, 26 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks you too to help me clarify all what I said during those crazy days. I myself spoke twice on french national radios on that matter. I started putting corrections and add-ons at the entry Christophe Moreau. Please be kind to read them carefully and help become clearer because, as you must have already noticed, English is not my native mother tongued. 82.224.88.52 07:24, 27 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
