This article needs some references. -- kainaw™ 12:59, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
The article could use a more basic introduction. I read the article, but I still have no idea what a Thermowell is. I gather that it's something that is installed in a piping system to protect sensors against extreme temperature. Is it some sort of pipe itself, or some type of liquid? Why is it called a thermowell? Are they actually used, or is this just someone's research project?137.71.23.54 (talk) 16:52, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
To the previous comment, they are actually used. I was looking at products when I came across this article. There is a factual problem though: increased mass slows response time, it does not improve it. This is obvious because the process fluid has to heat the mass up along with the sensor. The best response time would occur with a well having low mass and lots of surface area exposed to the process flow.
The thermowell image is not a 1-1/2" Flanged thermowell. It appears to be a sanitary protection tube with a tri-clamp of unknown size. The flow calculations discussed in this article would not apply to the depicted product. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.57.144.162 (talk) 15:03, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
