GA Review

[edit]

Here are some things that need revising before the article can pass its GA nomination:

  • Because both of the paragraphs in the lead are rather short, it would look better if they were merged into one.
  • It was noted that the characters acted different from what they would do in later seasons. - awkward wording --> It was noted that the characters acted differently from how they would act in later seasons.
  • It was an early episode for Mr. Burns, in which he had a different voice than the one it would later become. - is this because he was voiced by a different actor? If so --> It was an early episode for Mr. Burns, who was voiced by a different actor than in later seasons.
  • when it was first produced it played out differently. - is it known how it played? what were the major differences?
  • This episode would have been one of the first seen by British viewers. - this makes it sound like it would have been, but wasn't for some reason. Since it was --> This episode was one of the first seen by British viewers.
  • would later appear --> later appeared
  • The picture in the infobox is not low resolution.

Overall, not too much to change. There are also a few comma errors, but I'll fix those once everything else is taken care of. Nikki311 03:46, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've crossed out what has been accomplished. What about the other two points? Since progress has been made, I'll give another day or two for these. Nikki311 18:57, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't want the article to fail just because two points, so .... can we just remove this section: when it was first produced it played out differently and about the picture, are you sure it's not low resolution? Corn.u.co.pia Disc.us.sion 06:19, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • The picture has been changed to low resolution, so I crossed that off. I don't think the info should be removed, it was just a suggestion to help out the article. Even without the info, I think the article is good enough to pass at this point. Please note, however, that the info should be included if the article wants to pass the comprehensive aspect of the Featured Article criteria. Nikki311 01:30, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possible reference to the 1973 film The Wicker Man

[edit]

The scene in which Marge and the other wives are dancing in a circle while Marge sings the "Drink the drink that I have made" song seems to be eerily reminiscent of the scene in The Wicker Man where the local women and children are dancing around a pole. Am I wrong? Could this possibly be another cultural reference contained in the episode? Thanks. Ericster08 (talk) 01:29, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
