[edit]Is he the same as Theophanis Strelitzas (Θεοφάνης Στρελίτζας)? I suspect yes. Johnbod 15:49, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes, he is. Possible renames:
- 1) "Theophanis Strelitzas " ghits 186 [1]
- 2)"Theophanes Strelitzas " ghits 234 [2]
- 3)"Theophanes of Crete" ghits 130 [3] - with "i" only 3. Gscholar 3
- 4) "Theophanes the Cretan" ghits 453 [4] and with "i" 2,000 [5] , Gscholar 0
- apparently standard in Greek, but sounds a little odd in English I think.
Also the Getty list preferred name:[6] (with an "e") , so I think we should go with that.
any thoughts? All should be set up as redirects anyway (but after a decision I think)Johnbod 18:08, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
It seems to me that Theophanes the Cretan is the most appropriate name, as it is the most accurate translation (from a Greek bibliography point of view). I totally agree with the redirects as well Ipodamos

[edit]Seems in fact to be T the Greek, so I have removed.
