Not the only Maritime Forest on Bogue Banks
[edit]The article incorrectly states that the Theodore Roosevelt Nature Area is the only remaining maritime forest on Bogue Banks. The author ignores the Hoop Pole Nature Preserve which is comprised of 31 acres of maritime forest maintained by the North Carolina Coastal Federation. It is also arguable that there is a narrow strip of maritime forest that exists along the Elliot Coues Trail in Fort Macon State Park. [1] [2]
