Requested move

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: move the page, per the discussion below. Since it was easier and safer to do so, I have retained the previous edit history at Cossara (cf. the German in the proposal), which will now redirect here. Dekimasuよ! 07:54, 4 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Theodora Kosara of BulgariaKosara – Per my recent changes in the article. The Prosopographie der mittelbyzantinischen Zeit is among the most comprehensive, reliable and and prestigious projects on medieval prosopography. For the record, here is what it says in German (the gist is included in the article): "B. --Relisted. George Ho (talk) 20:08, 29 November 2014 (UTC) Constantine 16:21, 21 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment Kosara (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) was previously, and for several years, an article in itself. In 2013, Theodora Kosara was described as the daughter of Kosara This remained this way until November 2014, when the article at "Kosara" became a redirect to this article instead. From a process point of view, shouldn't this have gone through WP:AFD? And isn't overwriting the edit history at the target tantamount to deletion? (ie. can you delete articles simply by turning them into redirects, and asking for a move request to overwrite it?) -- 67.70.35.44 (talk) 06:14, 23 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hmmm, you have a point. Perhaps I should first have gone to AfD and then come here, but my first concern was correcting a long-standing mistake. Anyhow, the essence of the matter would not have changed: there was only one Kosara, and she was not Samuel's wife, so preserving the edit history of Kosara is IMO not of any particular interest. Talk:Kosara could be maintained in some form, perhaps merged with this talk page, just in order to have a record of the discussions. Other than that, yes, voters should note that this move request is tantamount to a deletion request for the original Kosara article. Constantine 09:05, 23 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
