– WP:NATURAL is preferred over parenthetical disambiguation. Sovereign Sentinel (talk) 09:58, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose. "WP:NATURAL is preferred over parenthetical disambiguation." It usually is but the proposed title can not be stable, as soon as the next generation is released it's redundant and will need to be renamed. Parenthetical disambiguation works well for cases like this, see History of video game consoles (eighth generation). Zarcadia (talk) 17:36, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
Support iPad 3 and iPad 4, respectfully. If we want to invoke WP:NATURAL, this is the way to do it. "The new iPad" would be a confusing name to use as an article title, as people might assume that's the newest one. We already have iPad 2 at this title and it does seem to be the WP:COMMONNAME to differentiate the different generations. -- Tavix (talk) 18:21, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
- Since no one paid any attention to my suggestion, I'm going to make it clear that I oppose the original proposal as well. -- Tavix (talk) 02:55, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
- Strong oppose "The new iPad" is senseless. It isn't the new iPad either. Further, iPad 4 isn't the only iPad with a Retina display, so both are extremely ambiguous. And WP:ADVERT stop advertising with Apple advertising lines -- 70.51.203.69 (talk) 04:35, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose as it'll just confuse everyone .... Next year they'll launch another and then it won't be new or recent ... 4 Gen is better IMHO–Davey2010Talk 22:52, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
- I also apologize for the previous comment - I didn't actually realize it was called "The New Ipad" ... Just assumed OP decided he liked this name better so sorry OP . –Davey2010Talk 22:58, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose - Not the common name. I would be supportive of moving the titles to ordinal numbers per WP:ORDINAL. Mark Schierbecker (talk) 19:37, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
- Strong oppose. The title "The new iPad", while it was used in marketing at the time, does not qualify under WP:NATURAL because the common name "iPad 3" also avoids parenthetical disambiguation. In addition, a leading "The" makes little to no sense in this case. ONR (talk) 02:39, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
