[edit]dmarex - I made lots of spelling and grammatical corrections to this page. I don't claim to have caught them all, but I corrected those that stood out to me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rodandjoyce (talk • contribs) 03:35, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- Sure, no problem. I pretty much wrote all of those in a few minutes so I know there must have been a lot of errors. Thanks for taking the time to fix them. Dmarex (talk) 07:03, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
Bias?
[edit]Is it just me or does this list currently heavy slant toward 1990s-2000s characters? Also, I suspect that if this list was written in the 1970s-1980s instead of today, the way Y&R was during that time, such characters like Phillip Chancellor II, Derek Thurston, and Mary Williams would not be considered minor characters. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 15:58, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
- You see, the fact is that there is no info available on the characters from 1970s-1980s. I would gladly write synopsis for all of those characters but there aren't any resources and I don't know anything about those characters. And the thing about Phillip/Derek/Mary---you see, these characters don't guarantee their own articles because nobody is willing to write a longer synopsis or a good article for them, so they have to be kept here. I believe we explained it somewhere: if anyone wants them to have their own articles they can do it easily, but they need to have a longer synopsis and references. Dmarex (talk) 16:53, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
- Then I would prefer something you were discussing on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Soap Operas#The Young and the Restless articles combined + Empty articles problem: rename this page to The Young and the Restless characters or something to remove any reference to "minor". Thanks. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 18:50, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
- Then you should go ahead and suggest that over there so we can discuss it and then we'll do what the most of us want. We agreed on keeping it here, but if you want different then let your voice be heard. Dmarex (talk) 18:54, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Murphy's engagement to Katherine Chancellor should certainly bump him up from "minor" status. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ryinthesky9 (talk • contribs) 00:07, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Are redirects appropriate?
[edit]en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebecca_Kaplan redirects here. There is a california politician named Rebecca Kaplan who does not have an article, but should. Should this URL be held by a minor Soap Opera character, or should it go to an active politician, who currently draws the top 3 google hits for "Rebecca Kaplan"? I would like to request freeing up the URL for the creation of an article about the politician, which will be part of my effort to create pages for all major office holders in the San Francisco Bay Area. Casey Reed merge proposal
[edit]It has been proposed Casey Reed be merged here, and I Support that idea as quite logical. Jusdafax 03:36, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
- Ditto Greg Foster (TV Character). Fences&Windows 00:57, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- Support in principle, but articles such as Greg Foster (TV Character) have zero sourced content to merge. Active Banana (talk) 01:54, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- So find some sources for the content! You know, using Google or another search engine of your choice. And actually it's sourced to Soapcentral, which seems like a fairly reliable source for info on soaps:[1], so "zero sourced content" is actually incorrect. It'd be a selective merge, obviously. - Support, absolutely. The only real-world aspects of those articles is the listing of actors to have portrayed them; the rest is just in-universe plot rehashing. 69.181.249.92 (talk) 17:11, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
Organizational Structure
[edit]This page is horribly laid out. If you don't know what year a particular character was introduced, then you have to check each year to find them. For instance if I search for Ryder Callahan in the search bar from the wikipedia homepage, it finds him, however when you select his name, it dumps you on this page where you have to check each year to find him. I absolutely hate this re-structure. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iron1972 (talk • contribs) 00:48, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
