Close paraphrasing

[edit]

This article appears to closely paraphrase this source. Per WP:Paraphrase, this article will need to be rewritten to avoid mirroring a copyrighted work so closely. Thanks for your attention to this, -- Khazar2 (talk) 06:26, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your quick response! Even now, I'd say that the article is a bit close to its source. Compare:
  • On 14 September 1745, Mme d’Etiolles was officially presented to the Court under the name of the Marquise de Pompadour. She was to be the king’s official mistress until her death in 1764."
  • "On 14 September 1745, Poisson was officially presented to the Court as the Marquise de Pompadour. She became the king’s official mistress until her death in 1764."
Since the language of the source has little originality, though, and the passage paraphrased is so brief, I don't think this raises copyright issues any longer. In the future, the best thing you can do is to try to draw on multiple sources wherever possible; blending that information almost invariably creates an original product. Thanks again for your work! -- Khazar2 (talk) 15:50, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
