I changed the line "from slavery on the appropriately named Imperial planet of Porlumma" to "from slavery on the Imperial planet of Porlumma". I don't know what is appropriate about the name Porlumma. I've read the book several times and it escapes me what the name Porlumma is appropriate in regards to.
I ended up doing quite a bit more editing, taking out direct quotes from the book, and adding a spoiler warning. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.40.166.155 (talk • contribs) 00:55, 8 July 2006
Space Opera?
[edit]Does this book really fall into the [Space opera] category? There is no romance, which seems to be one of the main characteristics of space opera. According to the Space opera article, there is a wide range of definitions, but mainly romance or pulp fiction, of which this book is neither.
IMHO, the book seems pretty much pure science fiction. wrp103 (Bill Pringle) (Talk) 18:15, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
- This falls very much into the category of space opera. I realize I'm writing three years after you, but the space opera page clearly doesn't require romance (although it is present in a nascent form in the book), and does give examples that are quite similar to The Witches of Karres. I'd say that space opera is definitely one of the categories to which this book belongs. John Gamble (talk) 17:18, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
