Controversies and Criticism
[edit]If we are going to include controversies and criticism, they need to be encyclopedic. There should be sourced to reliable sources to support that this is an actual controversy and not just something that some fans dislike. Knope7 (talk) 03:00, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
- I'll add that controversy sections are generally disfavored. Furthermore, the section as written discusses the Twitter save favoring the East Coast. This save has been used for the past few seasons. Seasons 11 and 12 do not mention this as a "controversy or criticism" so why add it now? Is it really a controversy or is it something a few people don't like? Knope7 (talk) 01:18, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Snoopy012: Please discuss here before continuing to add back content. Knope7 (talk) 23:45, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
You are misinformed on which season it is. This is season 12, as it states above. Yes, the Twitter save has been used in previous seasons, but never to determine which contestants made the Live Playoffs. Those viewers who were not on the East Coast couldn't watch the performances live. Hence, they couldn't vote for whom they wanted, unless they just voted for whom they liked previously, thus the "popularity contest" comment and the comment whether the Live Playoffs truly represented the "voice of the people." Viewers took to Twitter and to "Voice" and entertainment blogs in force to complain about the voting twist. It was more than "just a few people."
As for the semifinals last week, there was considerable vote manipulation in the show's new twist. For the first time duets were counted for votes. In addition, Twitter style voting was to used count as a vote for both members of the duet. Quoting the writer of that article, "The problem is the potentially unlevel playing field for the contestants...(I)f their duet just happens to land in the Top 10 on iTunes, earning bonus votes — hello, jackpot...So, is it unfair to count the duets for voting purposes? Of course, it is. But when has that stopped The Voice. It certainly didn’t stop the live voting during the live playoffs — voting that was blatantly unfair to contestants with West Coast fan bases. And it hasn’t stopped the show from using the Twitter save."
I changed the heading to "Controversies", which I felt was a more accurate description. You stated that controversy sections are "generally disfavored."
However, I've read controversy sections listed under previous seasons of "The Voice" and "American Idol."
By the way, another Wikipedia user thanked me on my Talk page for adding the "Controversy" section.
Unless you have further questions or comments, please reinstate my "Controversies" section. Snoopy012 (talk) 22 May 2017 (UTC)

- @Snoopy012: I don't find those arguments persuasive, but it will be up to consensus whether the content should be added back. Other editors have removed the section, not just me, and I have also been thanked for removing the content. I could in theory support a short, well-sourced criticism section. Better sourcing would be a must. Such a section should also avoid lengthy quotes. I identified the wrong two articles, Season 10 and Season 11 do not have sections devoted to criticizing the twitter save. The controversy section as written in this article came across as fans (and a blogger) venting their frustrations, which is not the point of an encyclopedia. Knope7 (talk) 02:05, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
I'll admit that the last entry in "Controversies" was too long. I can shorten it. My sources are two professional bloggers. I did not quote any fans' postings.
There were no controversies with the Twitter Save in Seasons 10 and 11. This season, the producers used the Twitter Save to influence the voting in the Live Playoffs and the Semifinal Round.
I believe that those are legitimate controversies. I feel that not to mention them connotates that Season 12 was an even handed and controversy-free season.
I'm sorry that I implied that you were the only one who removed the section. I had meant you were the one who posted on my Talk page.
I hope the consensus agrees that the "Controversies" section should be added back. As I mentioned, I can shorten it. I can also make the section more encyclopedic.
If you have further questions or comments, please post them here.
Thank you for taking time to explain why my entry had been removed. I hope for the sake of thoroughness and truthfulness, my "Controversies" section will be reinstated.Snoopy012 (talk) 23 May 2017 (UTC)

- The lead of Wikipedia:Criticism mentions why these sections are disfavored. I don't find it plausible that the twitter save was controversial this season but not the previous 2 seasons. I imagine those same blogs that complained this season complained in the past. Part of the complaint is that the West Coast was shut out of voting. that was the same the previous 2 seasons. It's also implausible that the twitter save was used to influence the voting now but not in the past. A real controversy would extend beyond 2 blogs that cover this show on a weekly basis. Elimination Table Standings
[edit]Could whoever the person is/people are that keeps adding the placement of each person in the Elimination table please stop? 1) Because you're only doing it for seasons 11 and 12 and no other season, which is inconsistent, and it has never been like that for any other season 2) It leaves a very large empty space for the people who were eliminated in the playoffs, and 3) It's redundant because their placement is already implied by the chart. Links
[edit]As Brennley Brown is now an article, can someone please link all mentions of her, like with Chris Blue? I would do it myself, but I do not have time. QuicoleJR (talk) 21:10, 9 April 2023 (UTC)
- Never mind, I did it. QuicoleJR (talk) 21:28, 9 April 2023 (UTC)
Shania
[edit]Wasn't Shania a mentor as part of this season? Not mentioned? SquashEngineer (talk) 15:32, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
