Early updates

[edit]

I added their year of birth as 1984, which if they are 20 years old in 2005 should be correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Matthew238 (talkcontribs) 08:12, 18 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

While tidying up I removed the reference to their style as Scene. Not sure about this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Matthew238 (talkcontribs) 08:32, 22 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Changed link of "The Secret Life Of.." as it currently leads to a television programme about food. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.132.67.26 (talk) 05:57, 1 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Which sister is in the photo?

[edit]

Does anyone know which sister is which on the photo we have, so we can put a caption on there.--Commander Keane 06:22, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

In their Archie Comics appearance (Veronica #167), Lisa has brown hair with blonde highlights, and wears a loose necktie and musical-note earrings, while Jess has black hair and large round earrings, if this helps. *Dan T.* 15:17, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Jess has a nose ring, and it seems a slightly wider face than Lisa. - Matthew238 22:29, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In the picture Jess is the one wih the neclace and Lisa is the one holding her hair. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jess2521 (talkcontribs) 20:48, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I find it easiest to remember which is which because Jess is an inch taller than Lisa is. So the taller one will be Jess. Lowri (talk) 20:43, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

More updates

[edit]

Um, about the year of birth, I'm pretty sure that they turned 21 on Christmas 2005 cos I remember thinking that they were only a month or so younger than Delta Goodrem. I wont change it cos I'm not positiveBanana.girl 11:56, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"The Secret Life Of..." shipped over 35,000 copies in it's first week, it didn't sell that many. Also when an album goes x2 platinum, it ships 140,000 copies not 250,000 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Harry** (talkcontribs) 10:08, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I find it incredibly rude that someone continually removes the link to VeronicasFans.com -adam, vf.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.48.73.90 (talk) 22:16, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like a bit of spamming given that you run the site yourself. Referring to Links to normally avoid point 9. - RandomEcho 02:00, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I hardly think it's spamming given the wealth of information contained within the site. Besides the fact that it is a simple text link, the appears ONCE within an accepted area for external links. It happens to be the largest and oldest resource Veronicas on the internet, and it's not unfair to assume that a link to such information would remain on a page that is intended to provide information. VeronicasFans.com is far more of a resource than, say, the IMDB pages, or even the official site, as far as touring information, appearances, media, and photographs are concerned. --Adamjk 02:01, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Given that you run the site, you have a non-neutral point of view towards it, therefore you should not be adding the link to the article yourself. --ozzmosis 02:10, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I thought that it was against Wikipedia guidlines to add links to fan sites anyway? Lowri (talk) 20:06, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hollywood Treatment is not at all relevant; so, I deleted it. Just because the Veronicas are sloppily pasted in between Nicole Richie and some guy in a flowery shirt, just above the site's logo, it doesn't mean that the site deserves a link. 65.92.120.124 (talk) 06:41, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rumours

[edit]

Edited some sloppy wording about the rumour of them working on an Archie comics movie, but is it really appropriate? -Ambientlight 21:38, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Are both of them really lesbians? I cannot confirm or deny this, and both of their personal life section does not mention something (possible vandalism?) - Hello52189 05:38:50, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to sources i have read in the past (we're talking news sites), one is in a lesbian relationship, the other is/was in a straight relationship. This article gets vandalised regularly, don't believe anything obscure you read on wikipedia, the chances are you will refresh the page and it has been removed. k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 12:41, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Career commencement

[edit]

Someone bought one of them a guitar for their 18th so they decided to be singer songwriters and within two years have a number one? Does that sound .. weird to anyone else? Can anyone elaborate on that paragraph? It leaves a lot lacking and reads like it's taken straight from a magazine aimed at teenage girls. You don't just get a guitar and think, "Hey, let's be a band!" and two years later get a contract. Unless nonno is a mafia don? Or does the music industry run in the family? Rich jewish uncle? There's GOT to be some big connections there to get them to fame so fast, I'd love to hear them.  :) Also are they really from Sicily? I know most Italians in showbizz love to claim it yet a minority are accurate representations. There's a lot of us Italians out there, and there's more than one town we come from. :P 211.30.71.59 07:35, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They were performing from a very early age. Lisa Origliasso says in an interview with Courtenay Act that when they were 4 or 5 and Shane (who performs now as Courtenay) was 6 or so, they met when they went to dancing class where they also did singing and acting, and that they were, "on stage at such a young age and has a beautiful community of theatre kids to grow up with."
This school is also mentioned and named as at The Fame Talent School, and they are described as being close for the next 10 or 12 years, in "Becoming Courtney Act: How drag made Shane Jenek queen of his own identity | Australian Story ABC
Again mentioned in this article, which calls the school The Fame Theatre Company. OnHawkspur (talk) 05:43, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sims 2

[edit]

I think there should be something to aknowledge that they have a song on the Sims 2. I'm not sure where to put it, but if someone could find a good spot, it'd be great. 68.112.36.203 01:39, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Demo songs

[edit]

It should be noted that the Veronicas originally recorded demo songs with producer Stuart Stuart in Brisbane at Chartsong studios. There were at least 8 original songs recorded in these sessions (between 2001 and 2003), which attracted music industry attention. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.174.160.37 (talk) 15:56, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Height

The Suite Life of Zack and Cody

[edit]

Shouldn't you mention that they appeared on an episode of the Disney Channel series, The Suite Life Of Zack and Cody on the episode The Suite Life Goes Hollywood Part 2. I thought that was important. Also on that episode they perform their song "Cry". Goodbye To You

[edit]

The Veronicas' cover of Scandal's 1982 song "Goodbye to You" has an interesting mistake in the lyrics. According to Scandal member Zack Smith who wrote the song, the last 4 words of the third line are "your fear to choose." Source However, almost every internet listing of the lyrics contains the wrong words "I feel it too." The Veronicas must have gotten the lyrics off the internet, because they sing those same wrong words. Here is the youtube video of the original version by Scandal, which contains the correct lyrics. Hook Me Up

[edit]

Hello, whoever deleted my changes made to the Hook Me Up album, im not quite sure to your reasons on deleting these changes i made, as they are purely factual. I decided to make these changes because i was sick of coming back to wikipedia and not being able to find information on how the album was doing in the US. So i found some true facts out, and put it on myself. Also, Lisa and Jess had asked their fans to buy their album, i understand that you may believe that I was promoting, however i wasn't, i was simply stating that is what they had said. Thanks for Your time. --124.186.161.123 (talk) 11:03, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Early years

[edit]

I changed, "and it became a massive hit in all the world" to "and it became a massive world-wide hit ." Even with the change, it seems a bit aggrandizing. Maybe if we had some figures like, "and it sold 20 million copies world wide."

It was my understanding that t.A.T.u's second album didn't do so well... And after being dropped by their record company, they were relegated to touring Europe and Japan. (I could be wrong.) Does this sort of thing happen to artists with current hits that are massive? I know, the point is the J & L are great song writers, but being great doesn't always translate into music sales. 65.92.120.124 (talk) 06:40, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2005-2007: The Secret Life of...

2007-Present: Hook Me Up

[edit]

What is the last sentence in this article doing here? "Also, recently headlining a show in Atlanta, GA on June 13th 2008, the crowd requested an ENCORE!" Does this need capitalization, an exclamation mark, or should it be there at all?! I don't think so. This is not that important - bands are asked for encores all the time. I'm taking it out unless someone has a legit reason for it to be in there. (btw I am a Wikipedia member; I know what I'm doing, but my computer won't let me login for some reason...) 75.181.35.131 (talk) 23:39, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some stupid person, has gone and ruined the hook me up spot, but i could not be bothered fixing this up anymore, it keeps getting destroyed. All my hard work. But oh well.I still love you Lisa and Jess but dont have the time anymore. xx Oliver Charles, peace out!--124.186.225.7 (talk) 13:05, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Band member information

[edit]

This article is about the band called the Veronicas. It's not just about J and L. So there's no good reason to delete band member information. (See "2005-2007: The Secret Life of..." below for example.) I'm not sure what else is missing, but the article is looking a bit lighter. 65.95.114.87 (talk) 05:12, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jess nude pictures

[edit]

Hello,

When I was reshearching the twins I came across that an aussi man had leaked some photos of Jessica with one nude photo of her. Do you think this should be put under a controvesy section or something. Jessica has even said the photos were of her. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dirtyharry1994 (talkcontribs) 17:14, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

^^^^ Well, the article mentioned that Jessica is currently weathering a nude photo scandal, but someone has deleted the mention. I'm guessing that it's going to be a tug of war trying to keep it in because some people would rather ignore the unseemly, while others are paid to root out bad press. 64.229.237.210 (talk) 23:39, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it was added, yes i did delete it. It was unreferenced, and no i could not give a crap about the veronicas, the picture was ugly and i regret having seen it. Go add it, but with a reference, otherwise it's againt wikipedias living peoples guidelines. Go search News.com.au it's all over the site. More to the point, they're launching legal action on the guy. kiac (talk) 06:33, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just because something is 'ugly' and you 'regret having seen it' does not mean you should remove it. You know the report is true, and you have plainly seen enough coverage of the event to have found at least one primary source supporting it, yet you deleted the mention instead of sourcing it.

Song list

[edit]

Where their name really came from

[edit]

Wiki says that The Veronicas got their name from the Archie Comics'. This is not true. The Veronicas decided to name their band The Veronicas after seeing the movie "Heathers". A girl in the movie asks "Are you a Heather?" and the charactor played by Winona Ryder responds by saying "No, I'm a Veronica". The Archie Comics' have nothing to do with how they came up with their name. If you want to read more about it then go to this link [2] where the real story is told. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaxlover07 (talkcontribs) 15:37, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in The Veronicas

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of The Veronicas's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Australian-charts":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 08:05, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Philanthropy

[edit]

Is campaigning against music piracy really philanthropy? Seeing as it affects their own livelyhoods it seems like justifiable self interest to me. Maybe this should be moved? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.106.134.130 (talk) 11:24, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was again joined on 00:12, 17 October 2009[[3]]. I again split it and moved it to "Anti-Piracy" as Ostropunk has done previously. I agree, anti-piracy does not seem very philanthropic. There are possible questionable conflict of interests that arise with seemingly little benefit for general human welfare. If somebody believes it should be in a joined section, then kindly post rationale to further understanding.- ellusion - (talk) 02:23, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Be Bold, if you feel the article needs improvement, feel free to help out. You're right but, when i originally added the material about the nude photos it was just a very small mention, now it's turned into a past partners list. The information is fairly notable here nevertheless, considering they do live quite public lives and received wide media coverage because of their little love triangles. k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 07:34, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
