sypnopsis for stories?
[edit]Hi,since the cultural significance of the E.C's is undisputed,I was wondering if it would be okay to expand the template for the story list so as to give a brief(say,40 words or less.)summary of each story?,My case in point is that Wikipedia has an issue listing with story details for Johnny the Homicidal maniac and even entire articles all their own for Carl Bark's duck stories,so how about it?,the Grand comic book database has a sypnopsis section for VAULT but its.....overly descriptive, and poorly done,I(and anyone else willing to contribute) will start listing summaries very soon, just as soon as someone expands the template size for me(sorry I am scared to mess up the templates, someone do it for me?)to write the sypnopsis. here is an example(similar to the MH marvel comics archive for non-hero books.: STORY TITLE: "Half-way Horrible" ISSUE: Vault of Horror #26 WRITER :Al Feldstein ARTIST: Sid Check HEROES: Zachary Boxer(embalmer) VILLAINS:Un-Named man with Schizophrenia,Witch Doctor. SETTING: 1950's America,Haiti. SYPNOPSIS: Zachary Boxer is invited to the rank-smelling apartment of a man who keeps hidden in the shadows,he tells Zachary that he was suffering from a split-personality and killed his psychiatrist,he then fled to Haiti, where he pays a witch doctor to "kill" his evil side with a voodoo doll. he then reveals to Zachary that though the wizard killed his evil side,it also killed the left side of his body!,now he wants Zachary to embalm it.... What do you think?.-Makluan God '07.
well?
[edit]So when is someone going to answer?
(Reply)It's an interesting idea. I may be willing to do it, if others show support and we know that there won't be a mass deleting of it. I'm not gonna waste my time if it's just gonna be trashed as fancruft. I think the summaries should be kept quite short though, with no "hero" or "villain" designation, and the summary overall kept to say a 2 sentence maximum. Okay, good reasoning.
[edit]That's fine with me,I'll try and see another approach to presentation if this idea of mine gets support;and I guess there should be no character listing or moral designation of characters(thats just how the MH archive does it,though.)since, often the character the readers end up sympathizing with are the murderers who get their comeuppance or bystanders who just appear as "nice" people in the stories(Zachary Boxer appears in only just a few panels in that story I mentioned, and if listing the characters from Creepshow I would not list a guy like Richard Vickers from the Tide story as a "Hero",no matter how gruesome the zombies were.).I didn't mean to seem like a whore by asking when someone would answer,it's just that it seems a waste to have bought all those Gladstone reprints, then see a list of "notable" stories and no issue summaries,I'll work out a way to come up with summaries which never give away endings(wouldn't want to give away the ol' "E.C twist",would I?)and are brief, and yeah,no fan-cruft accusations are wanted by this man(You should see my friend who wants to label this Tales from the crypt-story as a prototype for Man-Bat,he just doesn't have a computer.),tell me if you get enough supporters for my idea,It would be worth it!,and just remember..."I will be with you on your wedding night."-M.G
