Brothers of Destruction → Undertaker and Kane
Proposed by: ArtistScientist (talk · contribs)
"Brothers of Destruction" was a nickname. The team was never billed by this name. It was not the team's ring name, it was a nickname used by the commentators. They were never announced as the Brothers of Destruction. They were announced and billed as the Undertaker and Kane. ArtistScientist (talk) 06:11, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

The Undertaker and Kane → Brothers of Destruction – Srsrox (talk) 18:10, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
The last mover stated that they were never billed the "Brothers of Destruction". I challenge him to verify that. There are countless articles/page titles in which they were billed as such on wwe.com alone:

Although I hate to use YouTube, even YouTube shows a match in which they're called that:
So I have no idea what this argument is about. It needs to be moved back. Srsrox (talk) 18:10, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
Support I support the move back.--Dcheagle • talk • contribs 20:11, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
Oppose Of course they have been referred to as The Brothers of Destruction, it's their nickname, just like "The Phenom" or "The Big Red Machine". You have to understand the difference between ring name and nickname, and what it means for a team to be "billed" by a name. You'll find that all of those sources also call Kane and the Undertaker names like "The Big Red Machine" and "The Phenom". That does not make it their ring names, they're simply nicknames. The announcer never announces the team as The Brothers of Destruction, which they would if it was the team's actual ring name. You can point to sources all over the place where wrestlers and teams are called by alternate names, but that doesn't mean they replace their primary name. ArtistScientist (talk) 00:37, 22 November 2012 (UTC)
See below
- "The announcer never announces the team as The Brothers of Destruction, which they would if it was the team's actual ring name." Did you ever WATCH the YouTube video? They're CLEARLY announced as that. I suppose then we need to change all tag teams now to the member's names based on your argument? You could use that argument on ALL tag team names. And in any case, WP:COMMONNAME COMPLETELY is involved in this case because it is very clear it is the common name of this tag team. If you want me to, I can point to countless outside-of-WWE sources where they are commonly named "Brothers of Destruction", not the name "The Undertaker and Kane". And by the way, where is it wrong in Wikipedia to name an article based on nickname, ESPECIALLY if it's the most common name? Srsrox (talk) 03:06, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
- I started to watch that video but had assumed that you were pointing to the commentator's use of the name. Having now watched it to the point that he announcer uses the name, I will concede to your argument that this is how the team is billed. For the first several years BoD was only treated as a nickname, but I stopped watching regularly years ago. ArtistScientist (talk) 05:20, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
- I understand. Then can you cross out your oppose vote please? Srsrox (talk) 01:14, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
