Delinking

What exactly is the point in delinking words such as "hard-drinking" and "glamorous"? <K F> 11:54, 23 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

xrefs are not supposed to be used to teach English. Neither term is obscure. Linking such terms is just clutter. The Manual of Style says:

"Ask yourself, "How likely is it that the reader will also want to read that other article?"

We are not supposed to link:

"everyday words understood by most readers in context"

OK. I suppose we agree to differ. Have a sample of your "most readers" define "glamour" and see what they come up with. I mean, I guess they do understand "American"? <K F> 12:29, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Faces of January

Can somebody figure out where the title metaphor applies in the book? It's known that Janus is a god with two faces - it actually appears on the cover - but how it relates to the plot? Thank you.
