Nackels

Nackles is not about a "bigot" who frightens "minority children" with tales of an Anti-Santa. It's about an obnoxious and mean-spirited man who frightens his own children with the Nackles tale. The story mentions that he has passed the Nackles legends on to others (with some parents saying that they need something like that to keep their own kids in line). The original "Nackles" short story is not about a bigot. Ellison's screenplay, however, *is* about a white bigot who frightens a black child with the story of Nackles, the anti-Santa, who (paraphrasing here) tells the child that Nackles, as opposed to Santa, visits minority children. That screenplay was published in "The Twilight Zone" magazine not long after Ellison left the show.

Page Title

I disagree with calling this "The New Twilight Zone." That is not its title, nor is it a nickname as asserted in the article. The only nickname I've heard for this one is "The 80s Twilight Zone," or "The Twilight Zone ('85)." Besides, the name no longer applies--the 2003 version of "The Twilight Zone" is "newer." Well, at least somebody answered. My point stands. That is not its title, period, end of sentence, thus it should not be listed as such in an "encyclopedia" where we should attempt to disseminate CORRECT information. If we want to put the word "new" in parentheses, then fine, just don't put the incoorect title as the header. We could put a link on the default page (which would go to the 60s series) saying if you're looking for the "new" or 1980s, or even the 2003 series, click here or here. I don't know, when you search google for "The New Twilight Zone" you get alot of pages related to the 80's series. So I think that people refer to it in that way, making it okay to have this page the "New" one. We could just move this to a page called "The Twilight Zone: 80's Series" or something and have "The New Twilight Zone" Re-direct to it. I am currently working on building the episode guide for the 80's series but I have only got to episodes 1, 2 and 3. If you want to get finicky, seasons 1 and 2 were different from season 3. So if you are you going to call seasons 1 and 2 the new Twilight Zone what are you going to call season 3 - the Padded Out For Syndication Twilight Zone? It's all just the Twilight Zone... Unfortunately, whoever chose to change this only changed this article. Every single segment article still refers to this as The New Twilight Zone, which, as stated, is simply incorrect. The show credits give the title as The Twilight Zone, not The New Twilight Zone. TV listings of the time referred to it as The Twilight Zone, not The New Twilight Zone. CBS press releases mentioning the show called it The Twilight Zone, not The New Twilight Zone. Not only was "The New Twilight Zone" a nickname widely in use at the time, it was the name under which it was sold abroad, to the UK and Australia at leastso it definitely is a name attached to , used by the owners of, and a fair distinction for, this programme.Jock123 (talk) 08:25, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Marathon

This year, the Sci-Fi Channel's 4th of July Twilight Zone Marathon will begin with episodes from the 1985 Twilight Zone series. Normally, only episodes from the 1959 series are shown. Episodes from the 1985 series will begin on July 2 and run through July 3. On July 3, the 1959 Twilight Zone episodes will begin to air through July 5. Wikifan4 (talk) 19:23, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

It saddens me to report that there will be no 4th of July Twilight Zone marathon this year on the SyFy Channel. This obviously means that no episodes from the 1985 series will be shown as they were last year since there is no marathon. Wikifan4 (talk) 22:17, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Changes for syndication

I read somewhere that the series episodes were extensively modified for syndication, and many of the individual segment articles seem to bear this out. I came here looking for info as to how they had been changed. Other than extending 15-20 minute segments into a half hour (by adding commerical breaks, not by adding new or deleted material) and changing the end credits (to cover their butchery), it appears that they had Robin Ward re-record all of Charles Aidman's narration from the first two seasons; what I'm hearing on the Sci-Fi Channel is not Aidman. Does anyone have info? Seems this would be an important addition to the article, especially since the runtime and format of the episodes is so completely different. 71.200.138.188 (talk) 00:21, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Consistent naming

A decade ago, as documented in the earlier Talk section, this page was renamed from The New Twilight Zone to The Twilight Zone (1985 TV series).

Over the next few years, some of the individual episodes' articles were changed to match, others were not—and many were changed only partially or inconsistently. Here's a sample—three articles on the parts making up a single episode:

• Take My Life...Please!: Body has The Twilight Zone piped to The Twilight Zone (1985 series), infobox has The Twilight Zone piped to The New Twilight Zone.
• Devil's Alphabet: Body has The New Twilight Zone (which is a redirect to this article), infobox has The Twilight Zone piped to The New Twilight Zone.
• The Library (The Twilight Zone): Body has The Twilight Zone piped to The Twilight Zone (1985 series), infobox has The Twilight Zone piped to The New Twilight Zone.

Fixing all of these articles (one for every segment of every episode over 3 seasons) manually would be a huge pain, but this seems like something a bot could do pretty easily. Anyone up for it? --157.131.170.189 (talk) 22:34, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
