Questions
[edit]A new editor has emailed me about some questions he had on the article. I will try to answer them. I may modify them a bit.
Q. I need to add the fan site to the wiki section for links. Would this be a good enough citation for the location section?
A. The more controversial the material the more a WP:RS is needed. So nearly any site Wikipedia will accept is probably okay here unless someone else objects. Not really WP:RS (but probably not that controversial either). This is not the "right" answer. This is just an informal answer! :)
Q. I disagree with the claim that latitudes and longitudes are of no use. There are fan club members who travel to these sites.
A. Fine for a blog or a fan site. Not for an encyclopedia. Latitudes and longitudes are mostly trivia here. WikiTravel (and there's another associated Wikimedia travel wiki which name I forget). This extra "information" tends to distract from the intent of the article which is about the television series. It is a bit WP:UNDUE for a filming site.
Also, Wikipedia is not a DIY guide, or a User's Guide. See WP:NOTHOW. It is for academic interest only.
Q. Is there a way to link to a kml or kmz file in wiki?
A. I am not familiar with these files. Generally, if a bot rm them, it knows what it is doing and it is better to look for another citation. You might want to check WP:EL.

Q. Does anyone else think that the amount of space devoted to location information is absurd? There are more listed here than on the Star Wars Filming Locations page. Postdarwin (talk) 00:43, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
Cancellation
[edit]Why is there no section on the reasons why the series was canceled before the third book could be adapted? I seem to recall there used to be one. Misterandersen (talk) 07:33, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
- Added to the lead with a source. Rodericksilly (talk) 20:54, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
Major gap in information
[edit]What was this series about? What was its premise? What was the basic synopsis of each episode? None of that is discussed here. It just launches into the differences from the book, without explaining who or what the Master or Tripods, Black Guard, Golden City etc... are. Can anyone make these changes, because I sure as heck don't know anything about this programme. --ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 20:34, 20 July 2015 (UTC)
- Good point. I linked some of the terms. May be linked in infobox. Okay to link them twice. Undefined is your basic Tripod which stupidly has a huge ball mounted on three legs, like a water tower. Except engineers probably know better than to use three legs - tends to make them vulnerable, if you get my drift. Black Guards is missing. Don't remember what those were. We try to avoid having descriptions in multiple places, requiring changes to all when one is changed. So terseness is desirable. But I agree that it should have the info for the others somewhere.
- Someone wrote the White Mountains article, but stopped there, I guess. Student7 (talk) 18:05, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
"Württemberg docks"
[edit]Uh huh ... just that Württemberg does not, has not and will never border on the Rhein. Anglo-Saxon ignorance anyone? --Reibeisen (talk) 21:00, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
