Talk:The Top 5 Reasons You Can't Blame...

An article on the TV show itself may be (and, as of this writing, seems to be) NPOV. However, after re-writing the article on Art Modell, I should note here that articles based on the show may be POV. The show is on the same order as newspaper editorial, and reflects the opinions of the show's producers. -- SwissCelt 05:12, 26 September 2005 (UTC)
Copyright violation
[edit]The descriptive text at the top of this article is almost directly lifted from the ESPN page describing the show. I think it's a copyright violation. I don't want to bother to rewrite it myself.
Iniquities/inequities
[edit]Iniquities surely is a word, but it has a connotation of gross immorality, as seen in some dictionaries (not the Wiktionary entry linked above). Mr. Steinbrenner has been accused of unfairness stemming from his ability to harness the largest television market to provide revenue to field virtual all-star teams. This isn't generally considered "immoral"; thus, "inequities" is probably the better word choice. Nonetheless, "iniquities" was used instead. -- SwissCelt 15:43, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
- Possibly, but it seems on the one hand patronizing to second guess them and embarrassing (and giving a bad impression of ourselves) on the other hand to make it look like we don't know what "iniquities" means, so I'm still leaning towards removal. — Phil Welch 05:51, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
- Maybe so. I just didn't want that bit removed for the wrong reasons, even though I wasn't the one to put it there in the first place. Maybe a [sic] should be added instead? -- SwissCelt 12:05, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
I suppose I can see the point of the note, then. When the program airs we'll have a more clear idea so we can probably let it sit until then. — Phil Welch 19:07, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
- Iniquity
Gross immorality or injustice; wickedness. A grossly immoral act; a sin.

What? No Donnie Moore?
[edit]For all the episodes that have been aired, I'm surprised they didn't create The Top 5 Reasons You Can't Blame...Donnie Moore for the Angels losing the 1986 ALCS. Just like Bill Buckner in the 1986 World Series, Moore is often viewed too much as a scapegoat for his team's failure. MrHaroldG2000 08:27, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
