2016 vs 2017

[edit]

Shows' pilots often are shopped long before the show is produced, the fact that the pilot aired in 2016 is of little import to a person's understanding of when the show is from. I personally believe this article should still be titled The Tick (2017 TV series), and all references to it should refer to it as a 2017 show. Am I the only one who feels this way? I haven't been able to come up with any examples of other shows on wikipedia that would be good examples of this going one way or another. GiovanniSidwell (talk) 19:46, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking the same thing.--118.107.143.36 (talk) 20:51, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The pilot is still a released episode, regardless of its intent and usage. Given that it was released in 2016, The Tick remains a television series that premiered in 2016. -- AlexTW 13:46, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Besides very few exceptions, the pilot is not considered to be a part of the television show's run. Often times the pilot is reworked to be an episode during the first season, see Star Trek: The Original Series, but it is not considered to be "Episode 1" of a show. The pilot might as well be a teaser trailer. The page should be changed to "2017" - whoever made the page jumped the gun... Ckruschke (talk) 18:36, 6 September 2017 (UTC)Ckruschke[reply]
Is the pilot listed as the first episode on Amazon? Yes, it is. ([1]) And given that Amazon also lists the pilot/first episode under a 2016 date, it is therefore a 2016 series, backed by the original distributor. -- AlexTW 17:08, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Does Amazon show it as "The Tick 2016"? Nope its listed as "The Tick 2017" even IMDb lists it as "The Tick 2017" The way your currently showing title is confusing and wrong. It needs to be changed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:6000:8E56:1800:9BE:5625:343A:5E68 (talk) 20:26, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

IMDB is not a reliable source; see WP:CITINGIMDB. Cheers. -- AlexTW 06:55, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

and yet you completely ignore the fact that the company that created it, Lists it as a 2017 season show. Are you going to also say they are not a reliable source? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:6000:8E56:1800:3C42:AED4:1829:330 (talk) 00:32, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in The Tick (2016 TV series)

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of The Tick (2016 TV series)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "auto":

  • From 2019 in American television: Andreeva, Nellie (June 8, 2019). "'Project Runway': Magical Elves Returns To Produce Reality Series' Reboot On Bravo". Deadline Hollywood.
  • From Tokyo Vampire Hotel: Nordine, Michael. "'Tokyo Vampire Hotel': Sion Sono Creating Original Series for Amazon - IndieWire". www.indiewire.com. Retrieved 24 November 2017.
  • From List of comic-based television episodes directed by women: Rad, Sam (June 11, 2018). "Top 150 Cable Originals and Network Finals: 6.9.2018". Showbuzz Daily. Archived from the original on June 14, 2018. Retrieved June 11, 2018.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 14:36, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

None of these three potential references appears to fit with the two orphaned "auto" ref tags (within an episode table) in this article. —ADavidB 01:58, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
