[edit]Dear Users,
I have an assignment to edit this Wikipedia page. I'm new to Wikipedia so if you have any problems with what I've done just let me know. I have Riker's book Theory of Political Coalitions in my possession and I will also use other theorists' work where they talk about his size principle.
I will be planning out my edits in my sandbox.
Kind regards

I just discovered that some of the paraphrases in this article are exact (or almost exact) quotes from the original sources. I'll try to fix this now.

I dealt with that problem for Sheplse's and Browne's articles. I don't have access to the book Theory of Political Coalitions, so I couldn't check whether any paraphrases from this article are actually direct quotes from the book. If you have the book, please check.
Maybe there are now too many quotes in the Criticism section (see WP:QUOTEFARM). Please tell me if you think so, and then we can deal with it by paraphrasing.
Also, Browne's article has some nice comparisons of Riker's theory to other similar theories. Maybe this is one way we can expand this article.
