Pot as a hat?

[edit]

I highly doubt that a cultured gentleman and an officer would go into battle with a pot on his head. Marion himself rarely went into battle. It was said that his saber was rusted in its scabbard. I am removing all of this nonsense.

Banned in Canada?

[edit]

I am deleting this section, since I personally saw this series in Canada, on CBC (carrying Disney), during the time the ban was said to have been in place. I first learned about Marion through it; and I loved the song! It could not have been a different station, we did not get other stations. (I have rabbit ears, not cable, to this day.) A ban may have been brought up in Parliament by Erik Nielsen as a private member's bill (ie. not one supported by the party) or maybe even just an objection was brought up in Parliament for all I know -- I don't remember it being in the newspapers or any of the news -- but any ban obviously did not take place. Thus I question Leslie Nielsen being a reliable source in this.

I can't see why it would have even been an issue, though. Several Canadian politicians have had brothers and close family members who have worked as comedians or actors in the United States. Equally, other Disney productions about the American Revolution, such as Disney's take on Johnny Tremaine, also made their way onto CBC Television around the same time. But if the commercial success was not what Disney had hoped for, blame Canada? <g> —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.112.29.117 (talk) 14:18, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thomasolson, please do not revert back to "banned in Canada" again. It is simply not true. For Wikipedia verifiability purposes, if there had ever been such a ban, there should be an online record of the motion and vote in Parliament. There exists no such record. - Cameron Scott

ARRGGH! Why is it that every time I come back to this article, someone else has edited back in the same myth of "banned in Canada"? IT WASN'T! If you think it should be otherwise, POST PROOF! (Hint -- Leslie Nielsen's words are IRONIC. He is a COMEDIAN. Post independent proof.) - Cameron Scott
And for heaven's sake, check the paragraph about the CBC airing it before you're about to spout off again that it was banned in Canada. The CBC only airs in Canada! If it was banned in Canada, the CBC could not have been airing it. Use logic! - Cameron Scott
