Summary
[edit]The end of the plot summary is wrong. The three days have not passed yet, and therefore the alien doesn't ask what went wrong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.95.249.35 (talk) 01:14, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
Ashkelon
[edit]It has been a long time since I read this story. Can someone confirm that it does not take place on a planet called Ashkelon, and that the title is entirely metaphorical? -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 15:53, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
The story takes place on a planet called Weskers' World. The title is indeed entirely metaphorical.
Strong similarity to short story by Stanisław Lem
[edit]"The streets of Ashkelon" bears a very strong ressemblance to "The Twenty-second Voyage" of "The Star Diaries" published by Stanisław Lem in 1957. The English edition, however, was only published in 1976, so the similarity is probably just a coincidence.
