Snarking on the title

[edit]

This book should be called "The Seven European Daughters of Eve". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.94.230.223 (talkcontribs) 02:12, 14 July 2006 (UTC).[reply]

The thing is that Mitochondrial Eve's 'daughters' may not have been in Europe at the time they gave birth to two of their own daughters and started a new clan. The book should probably be called something like The Seven Clan Mothers of Current European Mitochondrial DNA Ancestry Descended from Mitochondrial Eve, but I guess the title was decided on because it was a bit snappier. --apers0n 08:37, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, except that there are more than seven. It's also more than a bit Eurocentric to focus on only those haplogroups present in modern European populations. --Saforrest 04:19, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I fail to see how it's eurocentric when the focus of the book is SUPPOSED to be on the haplogroups present in modern European populations. Nowhere is it written that his research his supposed to be a general genetic history of the world or anywhere other than Europe. It's like complaining that a Japanese researcher of genetics is being ethocentric for writing a book on Japanese DNA and ancestors that does not include someplace like Africa in it's scope. So let's be alittle more realistic here

while reading the Mitochondrial DNA article I noticed no reference or link to this article. Is there any reason for this ommission? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jiggs12 (talkcontribs) 19:59, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is a broken link in ref. nr. 4. It results in this:
