I'll look this one over and write up a review. Sagecandor (talk) 19:47, 12 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Failed "good article" nomination

[edit]

This article has failed its Good article nomination. This is how the article, as of June 13, 2017, compares against the six good article criteria:

1. Well written?: This one is not quite there yet. The lede fails WP:LEAD, doesn't mention Burke and Burke. Further, more "Reception" is needed, see below. Missing a "Plot" section, describing an overview summary of the story. See Friends.
2. Verifiable?: No issues here.
3. Broad in coverage?: One (1) source in "Reception" is not enough. There must be some that were contemporaneous with the times, and also more reflecting back on the historical placement of the show.
4. Neutral point of view?: Can't assess with "Reception" only relying on one source.
5. Stable?: Just keep an eye on the vandalism.
6. Images?: One fair use image, File:The Secret Lives of Waldo Kitty.gif, low resolution field looks broken. One free use image, good licensing.

When these issues are addressed, the article can be renominated. If you feel that this review is in error, feel free to have it reassessed. Thank you for your work so far.— Sagecandor (talk) 00:20, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sagecandor – And while I thank you greatly for taking time out of your schedule to review this article, I'm afraid I believe that the issues you discussed above were pretty minor and could have easily been resolved without quick-failing it. The lead mentions the review by Burke and Burke, just not their names. This could be an easy fix – if you'd prefer their name in the lead, it's an easy add, but since they are not household names or significant to the article's neutrality, I just don't see why their names should be included here. Regarding the reception, I have searched Google Newspapers and have a Newspaper.com account through Wikipedia and still couldn't find anything. I think I should also point out that Scheimer's input is included, and he was pretty upset about it. Lastly, the "Premise and description" provides a fairly simple plot summary, so I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about here. Friends does have a significantly longer section devoted to the plot, but let's be honest... Friends is one of the most popular television series of all time. The Secret Lives of Waldo Kitty is hardly getting any attention. Plus it only lasted one season, whereas Friends lasted ten. I think the short and sweet description I used satisfies the criteria for a plot summary. Once again, I thank you for the review, but I am going to renominate it ASAP. @Carbrera:I'll gladly have another look if you want to post here, after addressing those issues. Have you tried other research databases for more research? Lexis Nexis? Ebsco Host? High Beam Research? Wikipedia Reference Desk? Sagecandor (talk) 02:02, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sagecandor – it's up to you. I did try HighBeam but the others I did not. Also, HighBeam didn't come up with any results. It looks like Lexis Nexis and Ebsco require a paid membership, and unless Wikipedia is partnering with them, it is unlikely that I will be joining. I will hit up with the Reference Disk if you find it necessary. I've definitely pondered the idea before. Regards, Carbrera (talk) 02:08, 13 June 2017 (UTC).[reply]
@Carbrera:Wikipedia does partner with them, I'm pretty sure. Have you tried asking for help from your local adult reference librarian ? Or local college or university librarian? Sagecandor (talk) 02:09, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sagecandor – I greatly appreciate your suggestion, but that's just not a working possibility for me. Carbrera (talk) 02:13, 13 June 2017 (UTC).[reply]
@Carbrera:Can you call someone and ask them to go to their local library and local college and university library for you? Sagecandor (talk) 02:14, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sagecandor – Don't you think that's asking a bit much? Carbrera (talk) 02:17, 13 June 2017 (UTC).[reply]
I've gone to multiple local libraries to research topics like this sort of research project. Your local librarians are quite helpful ! :) Sagecandor (talk) 02:19, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Keep me posted if you wish, you've done a great job so far ! Sagecandor (talk) 18:27, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
