Which is based on which now?

[edit]

The disambiguation link at the top directs the reader to "the film based on the book", but then, in the first sentence of the article, we state that the book is "based on the earlier film of the same name." Obviously, both cannot be true, so which is correct? 199.2.205.141 (talk) 17:25, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

So much controversy on this page.

[edit]

Listen, I'm not claiming to be for or against "The Secret". I see it as a belief system. But there is an immense amount of criticism of the topic that I think is being over-represented in this article. There are several belief systems in our world: religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Bahai, Hinduism, Buddhism, Paganism etc.), political belief systems (Feminism, Socialism etc.) and other belief systems (like the belief that vegetarianism is good for your health). I don't see near as much criticism of the topic on religious pages, political belief system pages or lifestyle belief pages. I think this article should be about what "The Secret" is. Mention briefly criticism in the lead, have a criticism section and we should remove criticism from all other parts of the article.-24.17.240.192 (talk) 15:14, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Have shortened and clarified the article, removing repetitions, irrelevant criticisms and junk trivia, and clarifying that of which the book consists. This has rebalanced the article and now presents a fairer and sharper image on all sides. More work is probably required, but there ought to be doubt that the thinness of the material will permit any sort of re-expansion of the article to its prior bloviation. This line in the article makes no sense

[edit]

"Valerie Frankel of Good Housekeeping wrote an article about her trying the principles of The Secret for four weeks. While she reached some of her goals, others had improved."

While she reached some of her goals, others had improved? What? 2601:643:8D00:970:8D42:5660:8AB0:C921 (talk) 08:11, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
