Talk:The Schwag
The evil tags
[edit]Hi. I thought those tags were fairly self-explanatory. They both contain links to the relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines, which I highly suggest you guys read. Afterwards, if you have any questions, I'll be happy to try to answer them. In the mean time, I'll address the points User:Runderwo raised. Being around for fifteen years is not evidence of notability. In fact, being around for fifteen years without ever releasing an album is strong evidence of NON-notability. Hosting "dozens of festivals" might be worth mentioning in the articles about the festivals, but does not justify a separate article about the hosts. As for the band's web page and messageboards, neither one meets Wikipedia's standards for reliable sources (especially not the messageboards), and, in any case, neither the web page nor the messageboards are properly cited. Finally, Wikipedia is not a free webspace provider, social networking site or fan site; it is an encyclopedia.
Please note that I'm trying to be nice here. I did not simply nominate the article for deletion, which is what many people would have done. As an old Deadhead myself, I'm hoping you guys can find reliable, citable evidence of sufficient notability to meet Wikipedia's standards. But I checked several standard sources, and found nothing. I'm also someone who cares about the quality of Wikipedia, and the article, at present, simply does not measure up. I suggest you guys study some of these policies and guidelines, and go out and find some reliable press coverage to cite, and see if you can come up with something a little more encyclopedic, before someone not-so-nice comes along. And if you don't succeed, well, MySpace is thataway! Best of luck, Xtifr tälk 01:46, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
