Greasepaint redirects HERE????
[edit]I search for "greasepaint" as in the makeup used by clowns, mimes and the like and I get redirected to a page about a freaking musical. What the hell?
- The title of the musical does refer to the makeup, if it's any consolation. But yes, you're right. So be bold and start a real article about it. -- De Guerre (talk) 00:12, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
The Joker
[edit]Wikipedia's own stub on the song correctly lists the Sergio Mendes version as coming out a full two years before the Bassey version, which this article has listed as the "first cover". 2601:1C0:6F00:B2B0:90CA:EEEE:E5AE:BB96 (talk) 05:21, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
Theatre World Award for Composer and Lyricist
[edit]@Loriendrew I'm not terribly familiar with Broadway awards, but I don't think this award exists. From what I can tell, the Theatre World Award is just one award (although sometimes there are special awards), and it doesn't have nominees. The only source we have for it is Playbill, but it's not from a story in the magazine, but rather the "vault", which seems to be separate and not necessarily subject to the same editorial oversight. I've tried searching around for the 1965 winner or other nominees and can't find anything. I also can't find winners or nominees from other years. Cheers, -- irn (talk) 17:37, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- Also, for what it's worth, it's not listed on the website of either Theatre World Awards or Broadway World. -- irn (talk) 17:47, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- It exists, just as anything else on wiki does, because someone else mentions it. Playbill was just one reliable source. Another would be broadwayworld.com. Also, there is a wiki article on Theatre World Award. Based on what can be garnered it is an award from a panel of journalists, akin to the Golden Globe Awards but in lesser scale. As for the nomination, it is shown at the cite I posted. The wins are clearly easier to find.
- If you do not believe the award exists, or does not meet notability standards, maybe start at the award article by either improving, Taking it to AFD, or if you really believe it to not exist, to CSD-Hoax it, but doubt that would get very far with the amount of search results on it.--☾Loriendrew☽ ☏(ring-ring) 17:59, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- You've misunderstood. Obviously, the Theatre World Award exists. I don't doubt that. I don't think the Theatre World Award for Composer and Lyricist exists. The only evidence is from the Playbill vault. While Playbill magazine is an RS, it doesn't look like the vault has the same editorial oversight. And I can't find anything else that indicates that this award exists - including winners, which, as you note, ought to be easier to find. -- irn (talk) 18:33, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry, totally did, thought you meant the TWA did not exist. From a simple look I don't believe any winner or nominee has a specific award, other than certain special/honorary awards. I certainly would not object to removing the specific award name and just leaving TWA with a blank category.--☾Loriendrew☽ ☏(ring-ring) 19:07, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- Done, thanks! -- irn (talk) 19:30, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
