GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

This is a very good article and probably the easiest one I've ever reviewed. I only found two hiccups. See below.

  1. Is it reasonably well written?
    A. Prose quality:
    B. MoS compliance for lead, layout, words to watch, fiction, and lists:
  2. Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
    A. Has an appropriate reference section:
    B. Citation to reliable sources where necessary:
    • This sentence has a quote so it needs an in-text citation --> For "The Road Not Taken", he and Chiappetta were asked to again "find a new and gruesome way to blow people up," this time by rooting it in the concept of pyrokinesis.  Done //Gbern3 (talk) 05:08, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • I checked several of your sources and almost all of them were good. However, I found one misstep: [Goldsman] was instrumental in convincing the showrunners to depict more Fringe mythology earlier than planned, most notably with the depiction of parallel universes. "The Road Not Taken" reflected this suggestion – it combined elements of serialization and mythology for casual and continuous viewers.[4] Nothing is wrong with the first sentence about Goldsman. That sentence is fully supported by ref 4. The problem is with the second sentence. Ref 4, which links to this article from Entertainment Weekly, doesn't say this episode ...combined elements of serialization and mythology for casual and continuous viewers. It doesn't mention "The Road Not Taken" at all. It does indirectly mention two other episodes. I'm quoting ref 4 below so that I can explain my reasoning:
      • QUOTE: "Counterintuitively, the writers' most successful adjustment in season 1 was dialing up the mythology and serialization. They'd always planned to build to a big revelation that all of Fringe hinges on alternate realities — parallel dimensions that represent provocative variations on our world, our history, and even ourselves. They had intended to tease this notion over at least two seasons, but a visitor and Fringefanboy — none other than Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind) — changed all of that. Invited to write and direct an episode, he joined with fellow Bad Robot producer Bryan Burk to urge Team Fringe to get to the point. Recalls Orci, 'Akiva was like, 'This is the stuff fans want to know! Let's get on with it!' (Goldsman remains a consultant and directed the season 2 premiere.) And get on with it they did. While not abandoning the procedural approach, Orci says the writers made a shift toward connecting the randomness through the alternate-reality idea, which came to a head in a season finale that ended with two shockers..."
      • EXPLANATION: The season finale was "There's More Than One of Everything" and invited to write and direct an episode refers to "Bad Dreams" which Goldsman wrote and directed. This paragraph talks about those two episodes, not "The Road Not Taken". For these reasons, your second sentence "The Road Not Taken"... combined elements of serialization and mythology for casual and continuous viewers appears to be synthesis. You're welcome to get a second opinion on this, but considering "The Road Not Taken" is not mentioned in the source you cited, I don't see how it couldn't be. From WP:STICKTOSOURCE research the most reliable sources on the topic... with each statement in the article attributable to a source that makes that statement explicitly. This is the problem; it's not explicitly stated in the source provided. It's not even indirectly stated like "Bad Dreams" is. I really think you should replace this sentence with another one and remove ref 4 from this sentence and put it behind [Goldsman] was instrumental in convincing the showrunners to depict more Fringe mythology earlier than planned, most notably with the depiction of parallel universes instead. Personally, I don't think you need the serialization sentence at all. The article will still be good without it and, on a side note, all Fringe episodes (regardless of the season) have mythology in them so I don't see why "The Road Not Taken" is unique in this way. //Gbern3 (talk) 15:11, 2 April 2013 (UTC)  Done //Gbern3 (talk) 05:08, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    Pass or Fail:
This article makes me want to go back and watch season one. Good job. All you need to do now is add a source for that one sentence with the quote (or remove it altogether if you can't find a source) and fix that other sentence that looks like synthesis. Contact me on my talk page once you've made the changes and I'll come look at it again. //Gbern3 (talk) 14:54, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for reviewing. It's been nice going back to season one to write these! :) I have edited the article per your recommendations (for the second point, I think I meant to back up that sentence with another source but couldn't find an RS). I have removed it. Let me know if you see anything else! Ruby 2010/2013 00:40, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Everything looks good now. Time to promote the article... Done! //Gbern3 (talk) 05:08, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
