Similar to Treble Cone article
[edit]I wrote The Remarkables article very similar to the Treble Cone article, and will do so for the Coronet Peak article too, because I thought the layout of the Treble Cone article was very well done. I felt I needed to explain that. samh004 09:07, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
Rectified
[edit]Undid edits. Describing the facilities and terrain is hardly "advertising". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.57.254.22 (talk) 10:47, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
Reason for name
[edit]There are two possible reasons for the name given on this page -- one that this is one of two mountain ranges that runs north-south and the other to do with sunsets seen by early Queenstown settlers.
Neither of these sounds plausible to me. Many mountain ranges run north-south (Andes, Rockies, Appalachian, Sierra Nevada etc etc) and because the Remarkables are east of Queenstown, settlers there would have seen the sun rising over the mountains, not setting.
Have I misunderstood something? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.143.39.186 (talk) 17:56, 7 April 2018 (UTC)
Lord of the Rings movie locations
[edit]The article does not mention that the mountains were used as filming location for multiple scenes in the Lord of the Rings movies. This seems like it warrants inclusion, based on the continued prominence of the association in regional tourism, mention in multiple guide books, and other indicators of notability. These may be enough to warrant a distinct section, rather than an "in popular culture" notation -- particularly if there are not enough other usages in popular culture to populate that type of section.
