RfC

Light bulb iconBAn RfC: Which descriptor, if any, can be added in front of Southern Poverty Law Center when referenced in other articles? has been posted at the Southern Poverty Law Center talk page. Your participation is welcomed. – MrX 17:40, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

The stormfront username thing

I removed it per WP:BLP because the Media Matters link, now dead, relies solely on statements made by people on the Stormfront forum, which is by no means reliable enough to include on a BLP. I'd hope that's not controversial. Thargor Orlando (talk) 18:36, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't see this. I'm presuming you didn't notice that I replaced the link. I also attributed the statement to Kelso. Hopefully by doing that we've fixed it. Kelso has or had (can't remember if he still does) a position of authority there. Dougweller (talk) 19:18, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
I did notice you replaced it. You're attributing the statement to a self-published forum, as is Media Matters. That doesn't seem to meet our sourcing standards. Thargor Orlando (talk) 19:30, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
I'll also point out the FA discussion, as it appears MMfA isn't considered a good enough source for FAs. I didn't realize this upon my removal initially, but I think it's another point in favor of removing that section given the problems it causes. Thargor Orlando (talk) 19:36, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
Apologies, I've had a tab open on my edit and was doing some checking but didn't finish. As I can't find any other source, I've reverted myself. Dougweller (talk) 19:24, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
No apologies necessary, but thanks! Thargor Orlando (talk) 19:25, 13 February 2013 (UTC)

SPLC & original research?

It seems to me that this article relies heavily on the SPLC, which doesn't seem appropriate. The groups it's criticizing have likewise labeled the SPLC as a "hate group". I don't think any references from the SPLC are appropriate at all. Also, I'm not an expert on Wikipedia, but it seems like there's a lot of original research. It would be nice if this article was fixed, because right now it seems more like a blog entry than an encyclopedia entry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.48.7.196 (talk) 05:27, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

The idea that SPLC (rather than the groups that the SPLC monitors such as the Ku Klux Klan) is the hate group, is a "fringe" theory with nothing to back it. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:58, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

"articulate, charming, and at ease in front of the public” isn't neutral 92.10.199.195 (talk) 22:15, 11 August 2024 (UTC)

Not done: It isn't, but it's a direct quote of this source. '''[[User:CanonNi]]''' (talkcontribs) 05:50, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
Is it really relevant to an encyclopedia, though? It's a bit strange for them to say that to start with, but even then, articles here don't usually copy/paste their sources for various reasons... so, why this sentence, in particular, is here is bizarre, and seems awfully like the subject wants it there... 92.10.199.195 (talk) 02:07, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
