Membership Numbers

[edit]

I could not cite it due to YouTube being on a blacklist, but Bill Nye says in a recent video that there are 60,000 members. I changed the page from 50,000 to 60,000. At 5 minutes and 13 seconds in the video "Bill and Ed's Excellent Conversation" on the Planetary Society YouTube Channel. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CaptainBrant (talkcontribs) 23:29, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled

[edit]

There should probably be a mention of Planetary Radio but I'm not sure which section would be best. Eluchil404 13:27, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps the list of notable members could list former members, like the late Paul Newman. - Deep Atlantic Blue (talk) 21:35, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Numerical consistency

[edit]

The lede says "more than forty thousand international members". The section on The Planetary Report says, "This magazine reaches over 100,000 members". It seems there are subscribers who are not members, but this distinction is not made in the text. - Ac44ck (talk) 19:58, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I dont know where the 40,000 members is sourced, but on the Planetary Society's annual federal filing, it says there are over 5,000 members in 100 countries (this is reported to the U.S. federal government on Part V of Schedule F of the Federal Form 990 for the fiscal year 9/30/12 or tax year 2011). Where is the 40,000 members coming from? They are certainly not paid members. What is the source on that? In addition, with respect to the 100,000 subscribers for the Planetary magazine, the 990 filed with the federal government shows on Schedule O (2011 990) under Education and Information that it reaches over 100,000 people. This federal form is signed by Bill Nye the Science Guy. Who is reviewing this for him? There are inconsistencies between the wikipedia page and the federal filings. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.200.209.195 (talk) 16:21, 13 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Remove MarsDrive Consortium link?

[edit]

I see that this link now goes to an apparent shopping (?) site in what appears to be japanese. Could someone with more context confirm this should no longer be listed, and remove it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 8.20.114.10 (talk) 01:05, 30 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Logo?

[edit]

Can someone add the logo for The Planetary Society? -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 07:36, 29 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A logo has been added, so I've removed the image request. —Granger (talk · contribs) 23:50, 31 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Date of photo

[edit]

According to this article the American Association for the Advancement of Science dates the photo of the Society's founders to 1970, and not 1980 as stated in the current caption. JezGrove (talk) 21:25, 23 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
