Historical fiction, Slavery and voodoo
[edit]Note four Library of Congress Subject Headings:
- Voodooism--Fiction.
- Slavery--Fiction.
- South America--History.--To 1806--Fiction.
- Historical fiction.
That US national library provides this summary:
- Paul Faustino, known as the best soccer journalist in the business, reluctantly investigates the disappearance of eighteen-year-old Ricardo, a soccer prodigy known as "El Brujito," while in alternate chapters a slave in old San Juan becomes a powerful voodoo priest.
Is this set in San Juan, Argentina (far inland but settled 1562)? If San Juan, Puerto Rico then why "South America"?
Haven't redd it, won't read it. While tripling the size of this stub, I have not even mentioned historical fiction. Someone who knows the book should be able to expand on these points easily. One who also knows relevant wikipedia categories will be able to add several. (Novels by location/setting/topic)
By the way, I have seen the recommendation "Secondary (senior high) school" in WorldCat library records for all three Faustino books. That may help too. (Young adult)
