A response section needs to be added to this article, or the current one needs to be expanded. This section should be well cited using neutral and reliable sources that discuss the reaction of both critics and the viewing audience to the show. Additionally, document any impact the show has had on society, and merchandise that may have resulted from the show, such as toys, games, etc.

The "Background" section should probably discuss how the show was cast, particularly the fact that after Shirley Jones signed on, they cast her stepson David Cassidy to play one of her children. Right now it doesn't say much beyond "Insistence that Jones's casting in the role of Mrs. Partridge was not negotiable," which does not sound like a grammatically correct sentence, and implies that there was someone who wanted Shirley Jones to be replaced, which doesn't seem to be the situation. --Metropolitan90(talk)17:13, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The character Laurie Partridge has no character father on the show to get drunk. Her screen mother has a screen boyfriend played by Shirley Jones's real life husband Jack Cassidy. Jack Cassidy was a well known alcoholic (indeed he died in a fire caused by his drunkeness). That must be where this nonsensical sentence originated.
