Chapter summaries
[edit]I'm not sure why this article needs detailed summaries of the first two chapters of the book. Looks like someone pasted in their English lit homework. I'll remove them if no one objects. DES 11:10, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Ox box.jpg
[edit]Image:Ox box.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

there should be made a separate article for the book
[edit]90% of this article is about the film--Ezzex (talk) 12:45, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
- I don't believe there should be a separate article for the book. But since the movie is based on the book, the article should be rewritten into some other format. The majority of the article should discuss the book, and then a small section about the movie: primary cast, divergence from the book, that kind of stuff. I don't have the book, so I can't do that kind of re-write at the moment, but I'll order it from the library and see. Yngvarr (c) 20:01, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
- I retract my statement, and agree with Ezzex, the book and movie should be separate articles. I'm partially through the book now, and unless someone gets there first, I'll see what can be done to create an article on the book itself. Yngvarr (c) 23:10, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- This is done: The Ox-Bow Incident (novel). Since there are significant plot differences between the book and the movie (i.e., the switch from Art being the main character to Gil), someone may want to consider a brief section to give some details. Yngvarr (t) (c) 21:48, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

¶ I have added two lines about Leigh Whipper, who plays the preacher. Possibly because he was an Afro-American, he was not listed in the credits despite having several lines in the movie. His features were not stereotypical but racially ambiguous, which probably aided him in getting parts in several Hollywood movies in the 1930s and 1940s. I would like either this article or the one on the novel to draw attention to the differences between the book and the movie, and maybe also changes to the movie script imposed by the Hayes Code. Awards
[edit]I have looked and do not find reference to this being an academy-award nominated film, links to this are broken and no information could be found stating this, I believe it should be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 170.142.7.3 (talk) 16:28, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- It's a simple lookup at www.oscars.org. Try this: http://awardsdatabase.oscars.org/ampas_awards/DisplayMain.jsp?curTime=1240006590293, which clearly lists the film as one of the nominees for Outstanding Motion Picture of 1943. Monkeyzpop (talk) 22:15, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
