Relation to "Pierre Menard, Author of the Quixote"?

This story almost seems like a retelling of "Pierre Menard, Author of the Quixote" by Borges. Like transposing the Borges story into a more SF framing. The mention of Borges within Scholz's story almost makes this explicit.
