Additionally, I'd like to comment that the text I removed asserting that the voice is not heard as a result of censorship conflates two distinct, and equally anachronistic perspectives. One is the notion of censorship and propaganda for established viewpoints. It's true that this film reflects such propaganda but it's in a sincere and uncynical way unlike what would be the case in the current day, so the censorship would have been considered unnecessary . The other is that in the time this film was made and released, popular media were vastly more reality oriented and depictions of unreal situations were far less common. The lack of a heard voice reflects what would have worked for audiences in the early 50's. When god was given a voice it generally came from canonical scriptures (e.g. to Moses in The Ten Commandments (1956 film)). I can assure you that the fact that the voice is not heard is very much part of the fabric of the production's intent. 72.228.150.44 (talk) 00:08, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I came to this article to find out what this movie was about. The information provided is not sufficient. While the premise is given, the plot is not. I haven't seen the movie, so I can not provide this information. Can someone do that? Mellie107 (talk) 20:45, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Character names of the cast members who receive billing are indicated in the opening credits
It may be noted that, in the film's opening credits, seven cast members are listed along with character names and, in the case of "Joe Smith, American" and "Johnny Smith, their son", descriptions. Below is a reproduction of the form in which the cast is depicted:
