Television Transmission

[edit]

I removed this paragraph :

The film was often shown on both British mainstream and satellite television (often in the small hours). However since the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York in 2001 it has not been broadcast due to one scene in which Morlar 'wills' a Jumbo Jet into a London office block. It is not believed there is any official ban on the film, rather an informal decision not to transmit it on grounds it may cause distress.

  • unsourced. Who says it hasn't been broadcast ? Are we really so sure it hasn't been broadcast since 2001 ?
  • vague: this doesn't even say where it hasn't been broadcast (I guess it's meant to be "in the US" or maybe "in the UK" from the textual context. I don't think here in Belgium we'd make much fuss about such a minor scene in the film. Somehow, I doubt everyone in the US would make such a big fuss of it, either.)
  • "it is not believed" : by whom ? this needs a source, too.

I doubt that there is any ban, official or otherwise. More likely it is simply that this is now an old film. TVNZ in New Zealand saw nothing wrong with broadcasting the film King Ralph (which features the "comic" device of the deaths of the entire royal family) on the day of the funeral of the Queen Mother. Now that was sensivitity for you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.197.15.138 (talk) 02:03, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The film is now regularly broadcast in Britain, e.g. on Talking Pictures TV in the spring of 2020, with the plane crash scene intact.Lee M (talk) 18:17, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:49244.1020.A.jpg

[edit]

Image:49244.1020.A.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Can someone reupload the Medusa Touch movie poster to Wiki?

[edit]

The movie poster was deleted by a Wikibot created by a student editor named Betacommand. The individual who originally uploaded it to Wikipedia was an editor named Films addicted. Apparently the fair use rationale template was not filled out properly and a bot detected it and deleted the image along with a long list of other movie posters uploaded by Films addicted. Movie posters qualify for fair use because they are used in connection with criticism (noncommercial discussion) of the movie. I am not familiar with the image uploading/template side of Wikipedia. Is there an editor who can properly reupload the movie poster so we can get it back in this article? Here is where you can find the image: http://www.answers.com/topic/49244-1020-a-jpg (this is a web page, not just the file location). 5Q5 16:30, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here is the answers.com page that includes the Wiki version with the poster image (stored on Answer's server). Scroll down the page to see the original b/w 1978 poster, which is the one we want to use in this article. The poster has the company names ITC Entertainment Inc. and Warner Bros (distributor). IMDb also says Coatesgold, a prod company co-produced. http://www.answers.com/topic/the-medusa-touch-film If possible, we would also like to use this poster image in the popular culture section in the psychokinesis article, since the film deals with that subject. 5Q5 16:54, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Correction: Actually it seems the Wikibot did not do the actual deleting of The Medusa Touch poster image. That was done by user Maxim (talk) | (contribs) as recorded on this log page on 12 April 2007 This user (an admin?) has deleted other images, so it appears not to be anti-parapsychological targeting. I will try to reupload the image with hopefully more complete information. 5Q5 15:15, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the location of the image page on Wikipedia in case someone deletes it again along with the history of edits: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:TheMedusaTouch1978.jpg 5Q5 22:10, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Was John Morlar adopted?

[edit]

Otherwise I do not understand his childhood experiences.--80.141.20.94 (talk) 22:17, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Brunel: voice dubbing

[edit]

I'm quite certain Lino Ventura's voice was dubbed by a British actor, and it sounds to me very much like David de Keyser. Can anyone confirm this?Lee M (talk) 15:45, 12 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ID tag belatedly added to the above. IMDB confirms my suspicion: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7781426/?ref_=ttfc_fc_ttLee M (talk) 15:45, 12 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
