Year of founding?

I was a pupil at what was then known as the Manor Grammar Technical School in 1973. My first year there was 1971. By the time I left the sixth form in 1978 it had become a comprehensive school. The academy status is more recent that that. I don't understand therefore what aspect of the school was founded in 1973 as it existed well before that date, though not as an academy. 94.197.122.86 (talk) 21:24, 13 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
