Just want to mention the interpretation of the sexual scenes in the book is wrong. The sexual activity is an embrace between the two that overwhelms Chuck to the point of his achieving orgasm. It is Chuck who takes it in that direction, and McLeod seems to have no interest whatever, either before or after, which bothers Chuck. In several interviews I saw with Gibson he claimed to have had a disfigured face that was corrected with plastic surgery prior to his becoming an actor. It should be mentioned in the article, and whether it's true.
