incorrect song publishing category(?)

[edit]

I've just added a publisher field in this article's infobox: Northern Songs for UK, Maclen Music for US. This is supported by publishing credits on LP's face labels – original UK release here, and US version as reproduced in Bruce Spizer's The Beatles Solo on Apple Records (ISBN 0-9662649-5-9), p. 121. Thing is, the article carries a Category:Music published by MPL Music Publishing mention. Perhaps the latter allows for publishing for Mac's early solo compositions having since been assigned to MPL – I wouldn't know.

On the other hand, I'm wondering whether this could be a case of someone having applied the category across all post-Beatle McCartney songs, similar to the way that all George Harrison song articles (incorrectly) carried the "Music published by Harrisongs" category, until recently. Certainly, the Northern/Maclen arrangement seems to have been in place for Ram in 1971, since ATV's Lew Grade (owner of Northern Songs) took issue with Linda's songwriting credits on that album. Anyone out there perhaps with a reasonably sound knowledge of the situation re McCartney's publishing? Cheers, JG66 (talk) 07:08, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
