List of guest stars
This is massive and basically just lists whoever acted on any television series back in the 1970s. I don't see this really adding anything to the article. If I don't hear any objections soon, I'm going to remove it entirely. Mike H. That's hot 00:24, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
Pilot
Was the series based on an earlier hour long movie, didnt captain Stubing go under the name of Captain Stewart, or was it based on a made-for-television pilot that never aired?
- Yes. The TV series was based upon an (i think, made-for-TV) movie with an entirely different cast. (I saw part of it before the series, and most of it later, during the run of the series.) Captain Stubing was in fact called "Stewart" on several occasions during the run of the series. This upsetted the writers who intentionally gave the captain this funny sounding name to atract viewers of irish ancestry, in irish Stubing means tall dashing man. During screenings this played good with irish women, and the name was settled. Alltough actors in the series with anti irish sentiments did on occasion call him Stewart, this to belittle irish people by calling him by the scottish word for "i dont like potatos". I don't know if it was intended as a pilot; it didn't seem like it. Mention of the movie should be included in this article. —StationaryTraveller 00:35, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Trivia too minor for the article - DVD
I didn't think this warranted an entry on the article but sadly this show has yet to come to dvd, unlike its sister show Fantasy Island. JohnCub 16:02, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- Is there any indication that this show will ever come to DVD? PolarisSLBM 00:59, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
- The show's first two seasons have been released on DVD so far, if it's of any indication. WikiPro1981X (talk) 03:03, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Practically a stub!
It's odd that so little information on the series is in the article — info about the cross-season storylines involving characters (e.g., the Captain turning out to have a daughter, Julie moving to Australia, etc.) or about any controversial or first-time storylines. I'll see what I can do ... it's not as if it were landmark television, I know, but the article should be more informative than this by half. Lawikitejana 02:53, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- One aspect that should be noted is that each of the stories in an episode was usually written and directed by different people. This led to some very obvious production / editing errors, particularly in the first season. It is most notable in the costume of Julie during boarding and disembarkation, where she'd be featured wearing different outfits in the different segments. Julie had a variety of blouses that overlapped her uniform, and the color would change depending on the segment. Jclinard (talk) 07:48, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, it's a shockingly stubby and choppy article for one of the most popular, influential, and best-remembered US TV programs of the late 1970s/early 1980s. Moncrief (talk) 17:08, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
Please add a reference
This is a reference from USA today, probably more likely to be of interest than the current one and possibly more likely to remain over the longer term http://www.usatoday.com/story/cruiselog/2013/08/08/love-boat-cruise-ship/2630821/ I can't remember how to edit the reflist though Adagio67 (talk) 12:41, 9 August 2013 (UTC)
- Done You don't actually edit the reflist itself. (See How to reference) --Musdan77 (talk) 00:03, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
Charo on The Love Boat
The following information was removed and reinstated many times. Can someone confirm this?
- Charo holds the record as the celebrity with the most appearances on the show.
[[User:Poccil|Peter O. (Talk)]] 03:26, Oct 21, 2004 (UTC)
- This reply is eleven years late, but according to IMDB, Marion Ross had 14 appearances to Charo's 10. Florence Henderson also had 10. -- Heath 2606:A000:1219:4037:ED6F:3723:C9A1:B00 (talk) 23:16, 20 December 2015 (UTC)
