Natives' nationality?
[edit]Where the natives descendant of Portuguese? From what I remember they were indians, though they had contact with Portuguese missionaries in the 16th-17th century.--Menah the Great 23:53, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
- More likely they were natives who had come into contact with the Portuguese (Brazilians). 72.86.42.38 (talk) 22:21, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
Allosaurus?
[edit]I never saw allosaurus anywhere, the large carnivore was megalosaurus. T.Neo 10:38, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
Are you blind it was a Allosaurus! You must be joking. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.83.100.52 (talk) 01:11, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
Running time
[edit]There is a great problem with the given running time, i.e., two 75-minute episodes. In the US, the A&E Network initially ran it in two parts all right, but they were, with commercials, two hours each, for a total naked running time of about 180 minutes. They subsequently repeated it in a single three-hour slot, which would be around 145 minutes sans ads. If the BBC's only version is 150 minutes with two sets of opening and closing titles (and a story-so-far recap?), where did A&E get their own much longer two-part version? These two A&E versions are not open to dispute, even though neither the IMDb nor the "allmovie" pages linked-in in the infobox make any mention of a longer version; the latter does indicate A&E's first showing to be in two parts. If I still lived in Dallas instead of this small town, I'd have no problem getting TV Guide and newspaper entertainment section documentation of the four-hour version. --Ted Watson (talk) 22:17, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Confusing synopsis
[edit]I have not seen this version, and do not really recall the original movie at the moment. The way the synopsis is written, the lake is named "Gladys". In the section on differences from the book, it discusses Gladys as a love interest. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.109.50.145 (talk) 14:42, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
- Malone names the lake after the girl in London he wants to marry. I believe you'll find that in the novel. I've seen this particular adaptation only once, several years ago, and don't remember exactly what happens relevant to this, but I'll certainly admit that the synopsis could be improved on this point. --Tbrittreid (talk) 22:07, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
