Initial comments
[edit]- "It is an adaptation of the short fictional story about a boy who plugs a dike with his finger" - this might just be me but what on earth is a dike?
- Fixed I've taken care of this by linking it to dike. Maybe you know it as a dyke? The little dutch boy sticking a finger in a dike to prevent flooding is a very famous tale for those familiar with Hans Brinker, or The Silver Skates, but maybe not everyone knows of it. — Maile (talk) 21:37, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for clearing that up - yep I've heard of "dyke" before but only usually as an insult. But I see it's an enbankment which makes a lot more sense! ☠ Jaguar ☠ 12:28, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

- The lead could be expanded very slightly to summarise and meet the GA criteria better. It's just that it's looking a little short for a GA - some points about the reception/production could be mentioned easily (perhaps a sentence or two)
- Expanded. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 13:46, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
- "The writer of the scenario is unknown, but it was most likely Lloyd Lonergan" - is this assumption given in the first citation in this section (ref #2)?
- It is listed as part of the summary by Bowers, Lonergan is responsible for most if not virtually all of the 1910 productions as a writer. Some were written with/by Mrs. Thanhouser, but those were not specifically marked. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 13:46, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
- "The film was an adaptation of the fictional story that was popularized in Hans Brinker, or The Silver Skates" - this seems important to mention in the lead
- You are correct. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 13:46, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
- "The single reel drama, approximate 650 feet long" - would be great to convert into metres too (I could do a sweep of all the 1910 lost films you have at GAN, if you prefer, to save me having to mention them in the reviews)
- Though films are mentioned and approximated in feet not meters because this is a USA film. I can add it easy enough, but I don't see why all the conversion is required for it. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 13:46, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
- Conversions are only customary to articles as most of them feature them - yeah I hate the European use of metric too... ☠ Jaguar ☠ 14:49, 25 April 2015 (UTC)

On hold
[edit]I love early films and it's a shame that these are all lost, but it does add interest to it. The above points are very minor and once they're clarified I'm sure this would have no problem passing ☠ Jaguar ☠ 20:47, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
- @ChrisGualtieri: do you still want to do this review? ☠ Jaguar ☠ 19:32, 17 April 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, I am still very limited on time. Sorry for the delay - but I am not able to work on this for at least another 10 hours I think! ChrisGualtieri (talk) 17:17, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for addressing them and welcome back! I think we're good to go now ☠ Jaguar ☠ 14:50, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
