casino space
[edit]many different news reports this week have been claiming that the IP's gaming space is 52,000 sq ft, which is significantly less than what the article says. Anyone able to cross-examine and verify? SpikeJones 03:32, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
- I think that I heard that also. The website says 75,000. Who do we believe? Vegaswikian 05:06, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
- Having walked through the gaming space at least once, I'm leaning towards the smaller number. Heck, NYNY is a bit larger at 80k, the Palms at 95k, Barbary Coast has 30,000. SO, with that comparison available, would you say that IP's casino area is more in line with BC than with NYNY? SpikeJones 17:42, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
- I'm staying at the IP this weekend, so I'll bring my tape measure with me...
- The 2005 Harrah's Entertainment Annual Report (Page 22) states that the Imperial Palace's casino space is 52,000 square feet and 2,640 hotel rooms. So as far as I am concerned this is OFFICIAL information and fact from IP's owner and threfore it should supercede any information already contained in the article. Misterrick 02:48, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
- An addenum to my last post, Now if you look on page 33 of the 2005 Harrah's Entertainment Annual Report it says that Imperial Palace's casino space is 75,000 square feet which confuses the hell out of me because now you have two different pages stating statistical information about the casino size and both are different. Ownership
[edit]According to the records of Dean Heller the Nevada Secretary of State Link 1 and the records of the Nevada Gaming Control Board Link 2 the actual legal owner of the Imperial Palace is Harrah's Imperial Palace Corporation which in turn is a wholly owned subsidary of Harrah's Entertainment, If there are no objections I would like to correct this information. The Wikilinks in the Imperial Palace article will continue to point to the Harrah's Entertainment article but will display Harrah's Imperial Palace Corporation and I will add a section to the Harrah's Entertainment article that will include info about Harrah's Imperial Palace Corporation. Misterrick 21:05, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'm always in favor of the correct corporate ownership. This is encylopedic and often lost in the reporing on the changes. Given the size of the IP, the company may also meet WP:CORP so it should be linked in case someone finds out more and decides to write an article. Vegaswikian 21:24, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
- Changes have been done. Misterrick 03:27, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
Conflicting years that the Imperial Palace officially opened
[edit]Several Internet websites which chronicle the history of Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Strip and their casinos and this Wikipedia article state that the Imperial Palace officially opened for business in 1979 after Ralph Engelstad purchased the Flamingo Capri, However about a month ago the casino released a commemorative 30th Anniversary casino chip which would put the opening of the Imperial Palace two years earlier in 1976 not 1979. Does anyone know of a reliable source that can verify the exact date and year that Engelstad opened the Imperial Palace? Misterrick 03:27, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- I have found the UNVL library site to be useful. But how do you measure reliable? One point about the UNLV data this time is that is appears to show that Ralph was the owner of the Capri. What is it about this casino that we seem to have problems. First it was the size and now this. BTW, this site supports 1979 for the use of the IP name. Vegaswikian 04:22, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Imperialpalacelogo.gif
[edit]Image:Imperialpalacelogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:39, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Not moved. No support and there is the fact that we generally spell out article titles so '&' is generally titled as 'and'. Vegaswikian (talk) 22:50, 21 March 2013 (UTC)
- per every mention at http://www.thequadlv.com/ – 94.196.2.73 (talk) 00:17, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose The two variants are used interchangeably both by the company itself, and by third-party sources. It appears with "and", for example, in the title of their web site (in your browser's tab bar) and on their Twitter page. Such minor name variations as "& vs. and" or "Casino Hotel vs. Casino & Hotel" are not generally worth fussing about, as most casino companies don't even bother to be consistent about what to call their own properties. I would have opposed the move to the current title on the same grounds, but now that it's here, there's no point moving it back. Toohool (talk) 07:13, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
- I have to agree that the usage is inconsistent and the distinction is unimportant. --BDD (talk) 22:17, 21 March 2013 (UTC)

Why isn't the hotel's street address shown?
[edit]If you are going to talk about a building on a loooooong street, is it asking too much to give it's address? I haven't looked an any other articles on hotels, but I can guess they won't have their addresses shown, either. 70.98.142.254 (talk) 19:23, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

The opening date...
[edit]For the opening date of the Linq, should it display the opening date of the current property or of the Imperial Palace? The opening date says how many years old the Imperial Palace is as well (currently shown as November 1, 1979; 36 years ago), but the Imperial Palace hasn't been open that long anyway. Should we change the opening date to October 30, 2014 (the opening date of the Linq)?
