Clarity on "worst book ever written"

[edit]

In the "Adaptations and popular culture" section, a bullet point speaks of an abridgement and ends with "The book is widely considered one of the worst books ever written." It is unclear if this is meant to refer to the original or the abridgement. Which version of the book is being criticized? 128.151.71.7 (talk) 14:04, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The abridgement. Even HP Lovecraft almost certainly read the 1925 Foulsham edition. All but one of the reprints are of the 1925 edition, but often say they are the 1911 (because the Foulsham calls itself a reprint of the original 1911 edition). 70.55.182.155 (talk) 01:29, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
